Should I start using a dip belt for weighted reps, or wait until I can do more unweighted ones?

Its like doing a more isolated pulldown with 120% of your bodyweight. think of the difference.

I'm a huge DYEL but my lats are already bigger than my friend who's been lifting for 1+years thanks to weighted pull ups.
I use neutral grip and do chin ups instead because my elbow is fucked and hurts from pullups.
Currently 150lbs and I do 3x5 at 42lbs added with the last set being to failure.
