norwegian military here. Never seen those before, but 11g proteins in a 65g bar? I get some doubts. Are you thinking of the nutrients or the taste when you ask if its "good"?

NZ army here, we just eat ramen and oats. Never seen that thing before in my life.

DESU I've seen MREs with bars before, but not american, and we don't have those in Norway either. We just have a dark chocolate bar to help with blood suger if needed. The best MREs I'd say goes to either Canada or France. Very tasty and healthy, sadly small portions.

so the way it works in the us army is we actually have more than 1 ration, usually soldiers eat the MRE but on occasions they'll eat cold weather rations or other specialized shit

one of these is the first strike ration, designed for as many calories in a small package, thus the protein bar.
it also usually tastes like fucking shit in comparison to regular MREs

except from the camouflage gear and leatherman etc, thats obviously not in the MRE.

It contents are:
One dinner of various tastes (couple thousand calories and good macros, mix with boiling water of course)
One dark chocolate bar
Some small pouch of fruit
small pouch of fruity hard candies
one serving powder coffee and tee
some crackers
fruity powder to mix with water to restore sugar levels
gum
