This only shows one side of the story, there's been plenty of research on the topic. Yes, you'll experience more strength gain or more cardio improvement by only doing one or the other. Doing them combined lessens the quickness of improvement of both, however they don't limit the overall potential of each other. What I mean is, lets say you have the goal of deadlifting 500lbs and running a certain 5k time. Training for the deadlift and 5k at the same time will get results for both of them slower than if you just focused on one, but doing both won't limit your potential to achieve both goals simultaneously, it just takes a little longer
