Does anyone know of a good body fat caliper? All the ones on amazon look cheap as fuck. I realize they aren't the most accurate thing but when your goal is only 10-12 pounds it would be nice to measure fat loss.

I'm looking for one that's better quality then that cheap plastic on amazon. If there isn't one I guess I'll just buy that shit.

Best: I was in Disney last week and had dinner at their dine in bowling alley called "Splitsville". They had an amazing spicy vegetable platter that comes with your choice of chicken, salmon, or steak. I chose salmon and it was amazing.

Worst: A chicken philly I got at an anime convention. The bread was as hard as a rock and the disgusting toppings wouldn't stay on so I basically ate two hard soggy pieces of bread.

honest question does a 16-8 fasting program work well for weight loss, been running that with 1400 calorie restriction for about a week and a half and its kicked up my weight loss to 5 pounds in a week but i just don't know if its sustainable, its not like I'm having a hard time with it I'm just worried if there could be any health problems with it.

Meditation, no joke. I actually had a huge breakthrough on cutting from learning to do deeper meditative states. Start with breathing methods, move on to the more hokey mind-state things if you want (I didn't go too far there). Basically if you can pull your conscious mind out of the "me hungry," for a solid 15-20 mins and then jump into something else that keeps you focused like work, hobby, etc. you can break a lot of bad habits like food cravings.

I also quit smoking largely through this and re-direction.

I did a 3 day last week from Tuesday evening to Friday evening. I went from 200 to 194.5 which is where I'm pulling my loss numbers from. Refeeding in Jimmy John's and pizza hut, then setting up for another fast on Sunday. Had to refeed Tuesday morning after I had to work squats and bench on the same day (Easter made gym closed). Here's what I've learned separates fat people from thin people. Thin people binge eat, stress eat, whatever, they then look at themselves think "Ooof, overdid it a bit" and go back to a sensible diet. Exercise wise I do cardio three times a week for 45 minutes.

Food wise I eat around 1200-1500 calories a day. Breakfast is usually oatmeal with fruit or a hardboiled egg with peanut butter toast. Cut at 1800 for a year, used SL to build up a strength foundation and then I switched to PPLPPLX. Been rolling that and i'm starting to hit a progress wall so it'll be onto an intermediate program.

I run my dog for an hour a day, drop his giant ass back at home and then put in another 5 miles solo.

Cardio in the afternoon, lifting at night. Constant awareness of what's going into my body. I record literally fucking everything with an almost autistic amount of detail.

At first the sole motivation was because I hated myself to the very core of my being. Now that I've changed that its to be the best variation of myself in this cosmos.

All I've been doing is cardio, because friends tell me doing weights will make my loss slower, since they say muscle is gonna make me heavier. Give it to me straight, lads. Is starvation mode a myth or isn't it?

I'm new to /fit/, read the sticky, been doing cardio and strength, went down from 225 to 221lbs in 2 weeks from staying at around 1500 calorie per day with only 1-2 days off from the gym per week (Because of school mostly)

Also doing 16:8, and so yes, there's some nights when I do feel quite hungry. So, my numbers are looking good, but I wonder if I'll be slowing my weight loss if I stick to 1500 cals per day. Based on calculator, I should be eating 2000 to lose 2lbs per week, but I'm started to get scared from posts saying that my body will hold on to calories and shit if I stick to 1500

Do you have any 'food triggers'?

Me, I am triggered by the color black. Any black food makes me hungry and I have to eat it because I associate black with rotting. For example yesterday I ate 6 bananas because they were getting black skin. Last week my mother bought 2 tins of black beans and I ate them all. I know they won't expire because the black triggers me. I have even bought white chocolate then subconsciously colored it in black marker pen so I could eat it.

When I was well over 25% bodyfat that worked amazingly well and I dropped weight consistently and by the tone.

Cut until you're lean to your liking. Then slowly bulk. Trust me, I bulked at 150 lbs (I'm 5'7") because I was so weak and after hitting 200 lbs I realized I still look like shit (bulked too fast). If you're a guy, eating as little as 800 calories a day in the short to medium term won't be a big deal.

There are a couple of studies that suggest that after roughly 12 weeks your body will lower its basal metabolic rate to compensate however, and it's not really known how it accomplishes this. The end effect is a somewhat slower metabolism is general though, which can have an impact on your weight loss rate going forward from that point. There are also some speculative health benefits, particularly amongst people who are genetically suseptable to type 2 diabetes, in that it seems to substantially increase insulin sensitivity.

There's also no studies that have shown if the readjustment is permanent or not though.

Basically it's fine to do for a few months, but after that your body will compensate and you'll not be losing weight faster than if you were doing 1200 calories. If you can hack it, go for it.

My dinner last night

- some oven baked chicken breast
- tikka masala (chickpeas with some kinda Indian sauce)
- 3 zucchini fritters (eggs, flour, zucchini) with some chipotle dip, bought it from Whole Foods was fucking delicious although I went light on that chipotle dip as I was worried about be calories, only had about 1/4 of it

Working out, even though it seems hard, will actually numb the muscles and the doms will abide a bit. Not too sure on the type of diet to have, to make them go away, maybe some high protein stuff. I'd read the sticky but it 404s.

I'm torn between keto and just simply cutting calories.

I can easily go keto since I love meat and I don't like sweets and I don't like cooking rice, I don't really eat wheat products because they bloat me, and corn just isn't that great unless it's on the cob (with butter) or in mashed potatoes.. which is why I don't want to go keto, because I love potatoes.

Anyways, the real, biggest reason why I'm torn is because of the way you lose weight. I've done a VLCD before and it was easy. My biggest problem with it is the limited menu. I'd switch back to a regular diet with limited calories but I'm afraid of losing too much muscle mass in the process (I have >100 pounds to lose).

Help me, /fat/.
