Well first 2 weeks went well never missed a rep and managed 9/8reps on squat mr10. But it starts looking kinda hard now tho. Last time I did c6w I did it without belt and with real maxes and made great gains. So now I decided to inflate it a bit since my maxes were beltless and now I own a belt.

When powerlifting it's important not to set up too much volume. However I think you take this too the extreme. I really hope you have some form of accessories to go along with this.

Romanian deadlifts, split squats, front squats and incline bench and skull crushers might be good to add.

Whenever I plateau on bench it's because my triceps are weak. If you can lift the bar off of your chest without bouncing you pecs are strong enough. If you can't lock out your triceps are generally what's holding you back.

Or just increase your sets. 3 might be better honestly.

very, very, very unregulated. it's 95% just "if you're hungry, eat whatever's convenient."
over the last ~2 weeks I have been tracking how much protein I consume and making an effort to have at least 180-200g per day but that's really it.

I eat a lot of pasta and chicken breasts just because that's relatively cheap and I can get a decent amount of calories for cheap'ish. other than that I usually just have 2-3 protein shakes a day now just to make sure I'm hitting my protein target for the day. I think I'm unintentionally cutting right now actually kek. I look noticeably leaner when I look in the mirror now and my lifts all feel pretty good (although bench is running with a pretty deflated max), so that's kind of neat.

I pretty much never drink soda and I've cut out alcohol completely now that I'm taking training spr srs again. if this isn't a sufficient answer let me know, I'll answer as best I can.

That's pretty much about what I needed to know, I'm still pretty new to lifting and I wanted to lose some weight but keep getting stronger. As long as I get enough protein I should be able to keep gaining muscle while losing fat on a caloric deficit right?

Also I currently weigh maybe ~215 but not a ton of that is muscle so is the 1g of protein per lb still what I should be aiming for? Seems like a lot

iirc Dr. Layne "I'm a doctor btw" Norton Ph. D says anywhere from like 0.8-1g/lb is good, I just aim for the upper end of that because why not. but also he may or not be getting kickbacks from bb.com so he may or may not be getting paid to tell people that they should be taking in more protein than they really need. He seems like a good enough guy though, so I trust him and that neighborhood seems like about what everyone suggests.

guys i've been asked to join my uni's powerlifting gym 2 times now based on my deadlift which is 515. The only problem is that I can barely squat 385 and lmao forget bench, i'm at like 255 maybe. I need a bench of 315, and i'd like to get my squat to 450 before i try out. i weigh 215 btw at 5'10"

That's the way I did his xRM protocols, but some other lads had a weight in mind based on an e1RM. I did it that way becayse he says in one of the deadlift sheets that making smaller weight increases and hitting a lower number is okay, and I saw no reason why it shouldn't apply to the other programs as well (aside from the fact that it wasn't stated in the other programs...).

And yes, week 1 of the 3x/week bench programs is fairly light. Do them with feet up or something if you want to make it slightly harder, shouldn't have any negative effects on your progress.

Possibly the best thing about Texas Method is that you don't need a sheet.

Take your squat max and multiple by 0.7 This is what you start with for 5x5 on Volume Day. Multiply that max by 0.9 for what you'll do for 5x1 (setsxreps for the Eurotards) on Intensity Day. Do 60%ish of your max for 2x5 on Light Day. Increase the Volume and Intensity Day weights by 5 lbs every week. If that begins to get too much and you can microload, microload.

Use the same percentages of max for the Bench Press volume and intensity weights. Intensity Day bench press are always done like competition bench press (whatever grip width you'd use, and with a pause). Volume day can be played around with. I will do paused bench on volume day until the weight gets too heavy for me to do so, then just touch'n'go. You can also start with close grip bench and widen up towards your standard grip as the weight gets prohibitive.

Competition style deadlifts (conventional if you're cool, sumo if you're a bitch) will be done 3x1 on Intensity Day, starting at 90% of max and going from there.

Also, on light day, do some standing press 3x5, starting at 70% of max and going from there. These should never get to the point that you're really grinding out the last reps. It could start to affect ID bench if you do. I also do 3x8 chin ups on light day.

I would also pick one bench press accessory (I do dips 5x5 with weight increasing every week) and one pulling/hip extension accessory (I do speed deadlifts 3x3, but you could do power cleans 5x3, or goodmornings for whatever you can suffer to deal with, or some partial/modified deadlift to address something you think is wrong/weak).

I'd do it for 8-10 weeks (though if you're less advanced, and more genetically awesome, you could run it for longer), then take a back-off week and a half before setting new maxes and restarting.

Volume Day

Pulling Accessory
Pressing Accessory

Light Day:
-Squats 2x5 @ 55-60%

-Chin ups 3x5-8 (add weight if 3x8 is a breeze, don't work too hard though, it's Light Day)

Intensity Day:
-Squats 5x1 @ 90%
-Bench 5x1 @ 90%
-Deadlifts 3x1 @ 90%

You'd increase the weight on every core barbell lift by 5 lbs per week, except light day squats, which I keep at a constant weight throughout the program. Unless you can microload and need to do so in order to keep adding weight on a weekly basis.

For that back off before setting maxes, when you decide to do it, get one last "Full" volume day in, then Light day, but on that Intensity Day, just work up to a single at what you'd feel you'd open a meet with if you were to do one, do it for each lift. Then the next volume day, drop back to the weight you started with on VD (that original 70%) and do 3x5 on both squats and bench, skip the accessories. Take a set off everything on light day, and use the weight you started the cycle with for OHP. Then, on that intensity day, try to set some new maxes.

Then you can restart the program based on those new maxes.

I did the 5/3/1 sets (no backoffs) on day 2. First cycle I noticed increased fatigue, so if you want to go with 5/3/1, consider including any backoffs from the second cycle onwards. The backoffs would be the FSL approach (3-5 sets of 5-8 reps). Start with 3 sets, then 4 sets on week 2, 5 sets on week 3. If you want higher reps, do BBB instead with increasing intensity throughout the cycle.

If you want to do one of the Nuckols progressions, I suggest Auxillary lifts option 2 (but do 2x5-6 on week 4). It'll also work with higher reps, if you would prefer that.

tl;dr i found out i have scoliosis but never experienced any pain nor is it visible. Doc said i should stop powerlifting but i really don't want to. Experienced?

Powerlifting isn't everything. As soon as you stop you'll realise it was never "your world" to be begin with. Just a false little dream that one day you'll make it and be on top.

If you're not the best at what you do after the first year or two, you never will be.

In the meantime, sleeping on the floor on a yoga mat might help your posture (Lotus does/did this).

Thanks for the explanation, summed it all up well. I think I might leave OHP out at first on this cycle then since it might be a good idea to feel it out but will see if I can add it second cycle.

Are you time limited? Cramming that into 3x/week shouldn't be an issue, even with isolations which can be supersetted and don't require much rest between sets. E.g. combine Tuesday's squats with Monday's work, Tuesday's deadlift with Wednesday's work, then Thursday's squat with Friday work.

But yes, it can work. Start there and adjust if you need to.

Your average doctor will tell you to stop lifting if you just tell him that you lift. Proper lifting, if anything, will improve scoliosis.

Proper lifting meaning conventional deadlifts. Sumo deadlifts cause scoliosis.

I'm a little time limited but not much, I have been doing 3 day and what I didn't like were a few things;

After benching and squatting, I just feel incredibly tired and everything else becomes a drag and unenjoyable.

Because of past injury to my knee, it takes me quite a long time to warm up for squatting and feel comfortable. This added to full body makes the whole thing last ages. On the lower days I plan to spend more time after practicing light olympic lift technique and and also loaded stretching.

I find that just lifting a little more often often helps me from being inconsistent or feeling bored.

Not sure if these are valid reasons but I guess it's best to do whatever keeps you consistent and enjoying it. Hoping that squatting won't take too much of a hit after back work.

How did you just find out? It's pretty fucking visible and feelable if it's scoliosis worth shit, so I'm guessing it's very slight and you should be fine. Personally lifting helped me a lot with scoliosis but I still have some problems which I guess I'm just too old to fix. tl;dr if you haven't noticed you have scoliosis before it's probably nothing and lift and just watch out for any pains.

try a sports rehab physio, one that regular sees strength athletes, or athletes in general. I think the general rule is, if it strengthens your muscles, it'll be good for you. You might not be able to "cure" the curvature of your spine, but strengthening your back and the associated muscle groups will help prevent it from getting any worse, and minimise the risk of injury and discomfort in the long run. I'm not a physio, I just attend talks at strength&conditioning gyms every now and then, and that's what I usually here.
