I want to do chin ups with the proper underhand grip, but i feel like my arms/elbow/shoulder is twisted wrong, especially in the dead hang.
Are my genetics fucked or is there a way around it?

Don't dead hang then. Doing a dead hang and twisting my shoulder a little ruined my fucking shoulder.

Go down as much as comfortable. It's not like going from a dead hang is helping anymore than normal with lat development

Surely that would exacerbate the problem. Closing the grip would reduce the amount of twist
