Is cardio (especially hiit) supposed to burn fat or is it just a way to burn calories so you can eat more daily?
Like is there a point in doing cardio except for having a better endurance if you don't go over your calories limit?

Cardio increases cardiovascular strength, decreases resting heart rate and gives you much more endurance/stamina.
It also burns a lot of calories when you do it seriously, even just a 20 minute jog then 20 mins of walking back burns 400-500 calories if you are pushing yourself to breathlessness.

Endurance is a huge thing, building endurance is a great thing and even if it was the only benefit, itd be worth it.

Daily might be a bit excessive unless you're trying to lose a lot of weight/bodyfat plus it will probably be too tiring and will detract from your lifting. 2-3x a week should be enough
I fucking love HIIT training, wont do it so often tho because combined with all my other training i could get overtrained easily.
I am training for kickboxing contest now so more HIIT and less long cardio. Yesterday did a HIIT that simulates the 2min round fight.
30s Running
30s Jogging
30s Sprint as hard as you can
1 minutes rest
/=1 round.
Managed to do 6 rounds.

No other point. Cardio is for cardiovascular gains. It's good for health. Exercise in general is an ineffective way to create a caloric deficit since reducing your eating doesn't require extra time spent and less effort. No point spending even 20min on a run if you could spend zero and still achieve the same deficit. And a deficit induced by exercise still makes you just as hungry as one induced by reduced eating.

i never do any cardio and only lift weights. my heart rate is around 50. is there even any point in doing cardio for me?
If you're a NEET I advise getting a stationary bike and browsing 4chan on your phone while pedaling 3 hours 5-6 days a week. ;)
