How does /fit/ deal with their DOMS? I stopped working out for about a year, and now that I'm back at the gym my soreness is unreal. I don't remember it being this bad before and I dont think I can handle being crippled for 3 days after my work out.

Dims goes away after youve been lifting consistently for like 2 weeks. Fuck outta here.

You're going too hard, too quickly
If you still experience this after being a month into lifting, foam roll for that fascia release - your muscle recovered within 12-24 hours (source needed) but the fascia (which i believe are the non muscle fibers that are also used in lifting) is what becomes sore - so roll, stretch and if you really need it, take pain meds.

This.
I haven't been sore in months.

Idk I always experienced DOMS when I lifted before and I was going on 2 years when I had to stop. I've been lifting again for 2 1/2 - 3 months now and I'm still having crippling DOMS.

When I switched to a vegan diet I got wayyy less sore. Try cutting out animal product, oils and sugar and you will most likely see improvements

I'm in the exact same boat as you OP. Except I have a job loading construction materials to go to every day. Tough it out and quit bitching.
Like others have said it'll get better once you get back into it, but also, if you're not eating enough calories/protein, and not getting enough sleep your muscles may be failing to recover as quick as they should. Maybe look into BCAA supplements as well, they seem to help reduce DOMS quicker in my experience

dumb faggot or bait i dont know which one is worse

Could be both.

Take a week off without going to the gym and then lift heavy.. You will get DOMS again and it will be bad.
Likewise, OP, DOMS goes away through consistency like these anons are saying. Just beware that when you stop, it will come back following that next workout.

This could definitely be my issue, I have always had terrible sleep habits. I didn't realise that played into DOMS.
I've always liked the feeling of DOMS. Makes me feel like real work has been done. I miss it.

I enjoyed the minor DOMS that i got in my previous lifting but it's been hell for the past couple of months.

Are you joking? I never get sore anymore
I punish my muscles in an effort to get sore. It never works
