Hello. I am an incredibly unfit man. One year of barely moving except for walking to Uni. I recently got a bike and I get completely exhausted after 10-12 minutes of biking - including biking up hills. My legs hurt extremely much and get exhausted. After 10-12 minutes i barely feel my legs and it's an unbearable pain. Over the weekend I took a Rest and today I biked to Uni again - but I barely recovered from friday. How much do I have to Rest? I also want to lose weight, so I ate a little less than usual - not by much though - does that impair my recovery? How do I get started with Cardio from a -5000 base, a lack of stamina so great it wasn't even thought possible?

Should I go to the doctor for respiration reasons if I get exhausted that easily? I get out of breath too, it feels like my legs run out of air and thus I feel this unbearable pain.

I'm sorry for writing like a retard and I'm sorry for the terrible punctuation, I'm currently somewhat bewildered. Also apologies for unrelated picture and I'm not sure what I could contribute as thanks for having this question of mine answered.

5'8"
171lbs
Goal:
143.3lbs,
Increasing base stamina so I could actually grow a little muscle. I want a dancer or swimmer body eventually, but it's so far away when I can't even use my bike.

I'd appreciate help a lot.

If its seriously hurting, go slower.

There's no shame in going real slow. Its still faster than not going at all.

You will get better over time, you just need to be ok with the fact that it takes months and years to undo the years it took to get so unfit.

Most beginners make the mistake of going too fast, too often.

Eating less will hinder recovery, but if you're overweight it shouldn't be too much of a problem, try to eat healthy foods, as they tend to contain more vitamins and such, which will definitely help your wellbeing.

You really should read the sticky (click the text in first post). There's gonna be a lot about lifting weights in it, but even if you refuse to do any of that you should still read the diet parts.
Feeling sore is not dangerous, but be a bit careful in your first weeks if you're really out of shape. Sometimes beginners hurt themselves because they start too hard or heavy at the start.

Thank you bros. It helped me already. I think I'm going to take a break until I feel that my legs fully recovered and then keep going again. The problem is that I really don't feel like I'm "orking out". All i do is bike to Uni so I feel pathetic that my legs feel like they explode so I don't like taking a break. Or I want to lose weight faster.

I can see now that it's a good idea to take a break. For reference, I'm doing this since two weeks. I biked for 4 times per week (i took a day break + weekend). Every day was biking until utter exhaustion, blood pumping, out of breath, pain even if it was so short, it felt like I was reaching my limit every time.

I am worried if I take a break I won't see any progress. Did I do it correctly if I did cardio until complete exhaustion?

If you're struggling to exercise, I'd say focus on diet first. Eat at a ~500 calorie deficit until you drop another 10 lbs. Once you drop some weight, it will be easier to start trying to incorporate cardio and bodyweight exercises into your daily routine.

Ur biggest problem is ur height bru

You don't need to exhaust yourself no.

There is really only one key concept to fitness; "Do better than you did last time".

Be that go for longer, do it a little faster, or repeat it at a lower bodyfat level.

It doesn't matter if you don't currently feel like you're working out. If you aim to do a little better every time, you will catch yourself up inevitably, and will reach a point where you feel you are challenging yourself and making progress.

As above, don't go too fast and too hard, getting fit is a marathon, not a sprint. Have patience.

Does it hurt if I exhaust myself, though? After all I either walk to uni (40 mins) or take the bike (complete exhaustion).

Quit apoligizing for everything to make alpha gains. You have nothing to apoligize for so you shouldn't act like a beta bitch.

In your case you are building muscle as well as losing weight. Building muscle requires rest so until you get to the point where your trip to school is normal for your body you will need more rest. If possible try and space out your days so you bike/rest/bike/rest. If that's not possible then do as someone above said and just go slower. Going slower you won't completely exhaust yourself and you won't need as much rest.

As to your question about breaks and no progress your goal is to lose weight. That is entirely based on your diet so taking a break won't impact that.
