Any of you faggots eat sugar on daily basis?

If you think you dont, just check the nutritional value of beverages and sauces you consume daily and try to measure the grams of sugar so you could see it visually.
>>
Literally everyone here drinks nothing but water and black coffee
>>
One teaspoon in my morning coffee. No more, no less.
>>
>>41021186
i even cut that shit out. Coffee without sugar tastes like shit but i am getting used to it. But i just discovered how good tea tastes without fucking sugar.
>>
>>41021170
About 6 teaspoons a day. 2 per coffee, the rest I get from fruits. Most of the stuff I eat is prepped at home.
>>
>>41021190
agree on the tea.
I've been wondering if honey would be an improvement to sweeten coffee.
Drinking black after waking up kinda ruins my morning. Doesn't bother me during the day though.
>>
Any of you put sauces on chicken? Check the sugar on those, youll be surprised

Refined sugar is widely consumed by world-class athletes as well as everyday athletes as a cheap, effective and quickly absorbed source of energy. You would actually have to know nothing at all about sports or nutrition to be scared of sugar. Which makes sense because this is /fit/ after all.
>>
>>41021280
Many fruit juices have more sugar by volume than sodas. And no fiber to help you digest it. I work in a restaurant and it has always driven me nuts when parents wont let their kids have soda but they let them get lemonade or apple juice.

Have you EVER seen the Olympics? The Tour de France? Athletes drink sugar water all the time, they also get sugar into their blood via skin patches and any other available means. It's all sugar sugar sugar because nothing gives you better performance and faster recovery than refined sugar. It also improves insulin sensitivity which is what you want

Somewhat related, even though I don't have a kid and may not have one any time remotely soon.

But how would you deal with your kids and sugar? I imagine it's not a great idea to keep them away from sugar entirely, not sure how much you'd moderate it. My parents never moderated my sugar intake, luckily I never got fat and now I can make the decision on my own to cut all unnecessary sugar out (soda, sweets, sugar in coffee, etc) but this seems like a 50/50 chance whether you'll end up with a hambeast offspring

Obese children generally have an excessively high fat intake that creates and sustains their obesity. Sugar is not the problem. It just happens to be the case that these types of parents are nutritionally illiterate and pass their lack of understanding to their children, so they grow up to think that donuts, chocolate and ice cream are primarily sugar (when they are, of course, primarily fat). On a population level, this creates what is known as the USA

What's the deal with sugar in fruit? Why is it suddenly 'pure sugar' if you juice it and drink it, or blend it up in a smoothie?

>>
>>41023513
How many children do you see eating spoonfulls of peanut butter?
I'm not being a dick about it I'm being serious.

It's litterally adults and women that are gorging on that stuff.

Children don't tend to eat like entire jars of or just huge spoonfulls of peanut butter.
It's the simple addicting sugars and whatever trashy sugar(and fat because together they are a powerfully addicting mixture) pumped fastfood that's been shilled to them.
>>
>>41023537
>How many children do you see eating spoonfulls of peanut butter?

I did if there was nothing else around the house.

>>41023518
Bullshit. They have the same glycemic index but a snickers bar is a lot bigger and hence creates a way bigger spike. You need to look at the glycemic load too.

Honey GI 55 1 tbsp (21g) Netcarbs 17 GL 9

Snickers Bar GI 55 1 bar (113g) Netcarbs 64 GL 35

The tldr is: High-fat diet almost made the one twin diabetic, high-sugar diet had no negative effects, both lost weight without counting calories but keto dude lost more muscle, and only the combination of sugar and fat promotes overeating calories by circumventing satiety mechanisms which leads to obesity.
>>
>>41023596
Well actually the high-sugar diet made him more insulin-sensitive so if anything it improved his health
>>
>>41023596
Thanks, I'll watch it anyway because I have time and boredom. The high sugar guy must be a bit of a special case, I don't really believe eating sugary junk food (that's devoid of fat) is "healthy". They just said he is allowed unlimited fruits/vegetables so that might be the explanation, if you cut all plant foods of course your body will get sick. Fat guy probably had a dozen deficiencies at the end.
>>
>>41023596
Give me a list of what went into their diets and if they exorcised.
I'm curious.
>>
>>41022323

My family limited fast food to special occasions. We only ever went on a special day, like after a trip to the zoo or something (translation: mum too knackered to cook), so it always ended up being a little adventure of finding a random fast food restaurant in an unfamiliar neighbourhood, and nothing about it felt 'every day'.

Sweets, we'd eat as we pleased at birthday parties and shit, but never kept any around the house. Cakes, once we were in double digits a kitchen-certified, if we wanted one we could damn well baked it ourselves, no such thing as shop-bought.
I always thought it was fucking bizarre that my friend down the street always happened to have a coke in the fridge, I just figured they must have a lot of parties lol. I always worried I was spoiling a special occasion if she opened a fresh bottle on my account, like how sitcom characters talked about special bottles of wine.

If you just pretend it's normal, your kid won't know the difference. And if you let it be special, it's never "you can't have this cool thing," it's always "today is special, let's treat ourselves to this cool thing." So every day they lack it isn't "boring, lacking" it's just "normal."

When I was a teenager and got a lot more freedom to buy junk on a whim, I did pork up a bit, but that was just growing pains of learning to be responsible with my choices. The novelty eventually wears off.
I will say though, while I wouldn't have listened to anyone directly telling me what to do (because 'adults are dumb and just don't get it,') a bit of agendaless education on nutrition at that age would have helped a lot in letting me skip the "swap out coke for fruit juice" mistakes.
School "tried", but it was just demoralising, nonsensical broscience that basically boiled down to "don't become anorexic on our watch, just keep doing whatever you're doing until you graduate. If you have excess fat, maybe you're just a fat person. HAES, everyone's beautiful, pls no bully."
>>
>>41023380
>Also effectively removes the fiber
That's the bit I don't get. Is that just in terms of fruit juice, where the pulp's all gone, or does that apply to smoothies too where it's blended? That's where the chewing thing confuses me, because isn't that the same thing?

>Just eat your fruits like a normal person.
Yeah I do, I'm just curious is all.
>>
>>41021177
>black coffee

>>
>>41023646
I'm watching it right now (at minute 5 so might be incomplete)
Sugar dude: bread, pasta, fruits, vegetables, bagels, rice, cereals, soda
Fat dude: eggs, cheese, meat, cream, mayo, burgers

They show a table of food and fat dude has chocolate on his side which is bad for the result and he's allowed burgers which also have quite some sugar.
>>
>>41023698
As far as I'm aware high-fat dude did not eat overt carbohydrates, only bunless burgers. After all the dietician said he will have bad breath (keto breath)
>>
>>41023698
Veggies don't have that many carbs compared to fruit. So it's kind of cheating.

And why didn't the fat guy eat nuts?

This is kinda shit.
>>
Are heavily sugarized drinks like energy drinks and cola good for bulking if you're a skelly?
>>
>>41023682
I'm not a biochem scientist so I might have some misconceptions but if I got it right the health promoting important phytonutrients are bound to the fiber so when you blend your fruits/vegetables they get lost. If you buy pure juice (the good pure juice, often they add even more sugar and other shit) there's also no fiber so it really isn't beneficial at all.

And what does that make wine? First they say a glass a day is healthy, but you also need two serves of fruit, how does that work out? Is beer technically a serving of grain? Because you know, those are supposed to cover half the plate. Alcohol, it's the new fad diet. Swap out your potato chips for a fifth of vodka. Blue sunglasses? Try beer goggles, now everybody's got a beach body.
>>
>>41023758
No, the fiber and nutrients are still there, well what's left after you remove the important fiberous and nutrient filled skin from certain fruit that is.
The vitamins and what not go nowhere, even if the fiber is pulped in the blending process.

Oh you're right. But fruit smoothies with the pulp and the like? The nutrients and fiber are actually still there.

Goes back to the mentioned phytonutrients. Did a quick search and found one about apples and apple juice. Apparently it's about important polyphenols that are bound to the fiber and lost during processing/blending. Even if you blend at home you destroy most of the fiber and thus those nutrients. Still pretty fine if you don't exclusively do so.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23271615
>CONCLUSIONS: Apples are rich in polyphenols and pectin, two potentially bioactive constituents; however, these constituents segregate differently during processing into juice products and clear juice is free of pectin and other cell wall components. We conclude that the fibre component is necessary for the cholesterol-lowering effect of apples in healthy humans and that clear apple juice may not be a suitable surrogate for the whole fruit in nutritional recommendations.

There really isn't a downside to cutting sugar down. Quality of life could be one thing but eating a bit of chocolate every once in a while is fine.

Side note if you cut all sugar you will stop craving it after some time and you'll taste sweetness in foods you thought were bland or not sweet at all before.
>>
>>41021170

I try to minimize it as much as I can, but I do enough cardio that I don't sweat it too much if my food has sugar in it. In general I don't drink anything with sugar in it.

The sweetest chocolate is 50% calories from fat.
Breaking news, Americans still blame sugar for the negative effects of high-fat foods

When I was younger (about 11-15yo) I was drinking 2 litres of soda everyday and I was extremely underweight

It's pretty 50/50 sugar and fat with a bit of protein. Which is the main problem, both together.

>just drink tap water dude
Most places far from a large body of water have near-poisonous groundwater and groundwater smells and tastes like complete shit anyway. I wouldn't even use it to make coffee.

>>41024882
Same here, though I'd mainly just eat school lunches which kept my caloric intake low.
