If it's your first time trying keyto it will likely take you a week or so just to dial it in and actually get into a ketogenic state, after which it only makes sense to stay there for at least a few weeks to reap the benefits of it. So yeah, bare minimum a month. Two months is about as long as I would go, not so much because it would stop working but because life without carbs just fucking sucks. You can still drop just as much BF on any other diet so long as you're in an equal caloric defecit as you were in keto. Health/hormone wise it's fine, its just not an enjoyable life *for me*. I love carbs more than I love fatty meats and oils.

Sorry for late response. Chocolate Salted Protein Muffins recipe:

40g chocolate casein protein powder
135g bisquick
30g cocoa powder
1tbsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4tsp allspice
1/2 cup baking stevia
1tsp baking powder

Whisk dry ingredients in mixing bowl, then add in wet ingredients:

92g liquid egg whites
1/2 cup plain fat free greek yogurt
3/4 cup water
2 tbsp vanilla extract

Spoon batter (should be thick not runny due to casein instead of whey) into muffin pan, sprinkle pink himalayan sea salt over top. Bake at 400F for 25 mins. Should be crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. Dip in calorie free walden farms syrup for ultimate experience.

How much more cutting would I have to do to get to OP? Currently at a deficit of 300-500 calories now, since around the first of March. I don't seem to be losing bodyfat very fast though, especially on the back of my hips. Lifting wise I did SS in the fall and winter and switched to calisthenics for the spring because exams and shit and it's quicker to get a workout in.

I know I don't have much muscle mass right now, but I want to be lean before I start to put on mass during the summer.

Do so until May 1st. If you're satisfied, commence with the bulking. If you're not, continue the cut until a time where you are.

I cannot stress the importance of postponing the bulk if you feel like you're still too fat. You'll feel like you didn't do the cut properly, and then you are more likely to stop the bulk prematurely, because you essentially thought you were already too fluffy when you started it

Eh in some ways it's cheaper. High protein + fat isn't hard to come by.

In fact really fatty ground beef (70/30) is much cheaper than lean ground beef.
Same applies to bacon or basically any meat. Pork rinds even are 50% fat 50% protein, 0 carbs.
Handfuls of peanuts or most any nut are all fat/protein with no carbs.
Cheese works same as meats, the higher the fat % the cheaper it is.
Favorite keto meal is probably bacon cheese burger sub bun for lettuce wrap.
Might run into a problem with keto rying to fulfill micronutrient needs, such as fiber. That's why the guy mentioned cocoa powder every day.

That can't be right.
I still have belly fat and love handles.

But I have lost a half inch off of my arms since I restarted my cut. So I'm probably eating heavily into my muscle. 16.5 - 16 inches in a few months.
I guess I'm going to have to rethink my approach and my goals.
