Considering tuna is becoming a staple of my diet, should I be scared of the mercury content in it? How much is too much tuna?

a can every other day is the limit

I ate it almost every day for a couple of weeks and before that regularly 3-4 times a week. While I never experienced anything bad, I really would take it easy on the tuna
I researched this like 6 months ago and I think a can a day was fine.
eat sardines if you are really worried about it. Or switch between the two.

It's a cheap source of brotein, and except eggs, I can't find any better alternatives for breakfast. Any ideas?
>>40997548
I use to eat daily, often multiple cans.

Brekky just have oats or skip it, prote before and after a lift

Sardines don't have mercury?
>>40997580
I'm cutting, and carbs can't sattisfy my hunger for shit for some reason
Gotta get those brotons in the morning coz

>eat carbs
>glucose enters blood
>insulin is released
>insulin removes glucose from blood
>sudden drop in blood glucose makes you hungry within a few hours of eating
fat and protein is the way to go.

Shouldn't oats be good carbs that dn't do that?

Almost none, they're non predatory whereas Tuna are pretty close to the top of the foodchain
Sardines, sprats, pilchards and most other small oily fish are fine. Mackerel are slightly higher but still better than tuna.
Swordfish is about the worst of the worst, you can even taste the mercury if you buy a cheap cut/fish

Diabetic here, protein uses insulin too, just slower. Eat fats with your carbs and/or eat lower GI/complex carbs and you don't need to worry about it unless you're eating like a retard

Cheap canned tuna is 40% accidental dolphin anyway, and those have shit macros kek

This. Protein causes roughly half the insulin spike of carbs, but it definitely does.

>Protein causes roughly half the insulin spike of carbs, but it definitely does.
It's a bit less than a third. Studies say 1/9th but from tracking blood sugars it's roughly 1/3rd to 1/4
The amount of insulin is EXACTLY the same, it just takes longer so the spike is broader
This is why all the nonsense you see every day on /fit/ about insulin spikes being bad is almost completely misguided bullshit.
So is tuna okay or not okay in the end lol
Literally every oppinion is different

Hm ok, didnt know, am not beetus myself so I never actually tracked it myself. But yeah I meant that, the spike has a lower peak (what I meant by half) but lasts longer so it adds up.

okay in moderation. a can once in a while will not poison you but there are better alternatives.
