It always depends who it is coming from and why they are doing it. A person in a place of power that you respect "bullying" you, usually doesn't come off as bullying. It comes off as advice. Think drill instructors, mentors, professors, parents, etc. If the respect only goes one way this dynamic changes but "bullying" can still be advice.

When I say advice I mean a third party observer would say it is bullying but neither the person acting or being acted upon perceive it as such.

If it's 2 random people it serves no purpose on other than the person acting showing everyone they are not functionally a part of society. They are probably mentally ill or severely mentally handicapped.

So you can "bully" someone into change as long as you have a pre-existing relationship and understand boundaries.

As far as to how the person being acted upon takes it that is a lot more complicated because it's essentially a case to base basis. Some react to that sort of stimuli well by confronting it. The average person will likely be turned off completely, however, in which case bullying actually does more harm than good in getting that person to achieve the intended goal.

Maybe not true face to face bullying only because Ive never experienced that but the face of someone who looks down on you and is not outwardly hateful to you is the worst imo. You constantly have this sense of inferiority because to them youre not even worth getting mad over. Its like theyre taunting you, patronizing you. Theyre letting it eat away at the fabric of your own dignity; this motivates the fuck out of me.
