What does /fit/ do for a living?
How badly does your work fuck up you gains?
>>
Night shift gas station. Studying also. Looking at potentially going into car sales for extra dosh.

Not really. Biphasic sleeping is a godsend and helps me also get sunlight. I lift as soon as I finish my shifts, smash my breakfast and then crash for 2-4hrs. Wake up, shake, and either swim, martial arts or paint models depending on the day. Then it's back to sleep for another 3-4hrs

I'm in the military. Kind of. Air Force. Sucks for gains because I work all the time and I'm constantly stressing. But the food is free because I'm on a remote tour and I have plenty of gym time. Just have to contend with the colossal retards that inhabit every base gym.

>>

IT Consultant. I usually work out 4 times a week, for 1-1.5 hours each day. Probably dyel for fit standards.

It looks good in the normie world, most people prefer it to gross roidfags. If you just want to be in shape and look attractive it is more than enough, if you didn't already fall for the body dysmorphia.

6'1'' and 187 lbs.

I'm 26 and I have no idea what to do with my life. This is my 4th year in college, but I'm still a sophomore. I've dropped so many classes that I think I'm probably going to get kicked out this semester.

As of now I work at a gas station and holy shit I really don't want to do this anymore. I've been told to go into IT because there are a lot of people in it that don't have degrees, but I'm not sure if I'm smart enough for it.

Accountant, or should I say, rockstar accountant!

In my 20s, maybe comptroller or budget director in a few years. CFO by 40? I can dream!

I have to sit a lot. Got a standing desk too. The fiscal year kind of ebbs and flows so sometimes I'm busy 12 hours a day, others I can go on two hour long walks. Lift every morning before work.

Who here is a college drop out?

I feel like college just isn't for me. I have failed too many classes and I just can't seem to get myself to go to class anymore. I don't know what I'll do if I drop though. As of now I work in retail and I don't want to do this forever, but since I can't do well in college I feel like I am stuck here forever.

for those who did drop, how is your life now?

Well I went to community college and also got financial aid. When I transferred a 4 year school I had to take out a few loans. I only owe like 5k so far in loans, so I guess its not too bad.

I'm not close to being done. Because I failed a fuck ton of classes I have to retake them. I was supposed to be done with my degree last year, but I'm so behind that its almost sad.

Idk man I just feel lost in life.
Good thing my retail job is flexible. I have a enough time to get a good workout in and still eat pretty clean. I really don;t want to do this forever though.

I work in construction, HVAC to be precise. My first week I was too fucking exhausted to even make dinner after work, I was also really very awfully fat though. I started meal prepping because construction is long days and started losing weight. After a while I took up lifting again and after another while I started some jogging and even later I started playing rugby. I still skip training sporadically but more because I'm home late, not because I'm so exhausted anymore.
>>
I used to work as a pizza cook and do odd jobs (unskilled labor, paint prep, cleaning shit) on the side where I could often make over 20 bucks an hour cash. I saved a bunch of money, quit working, and spend my time at home with mummy and daddy working out, doing school work, and watching anime. Now I have an academic scholarship for more than full tuition to a good school, going in initially for a stem degree but likely switching to a math dual major with whatever humanities meme degree I feel like. I dont like working so I try to work as little as possible by saving money from all my jobs and getting as much financial aid for school as possible.
>>
Student currently. Working towards a degree in Finance. I can probably do alright with exercising after work, since I don't often let being exhausted stop me from going to the gym.
>>
I put glass units together. Only way it fucks with my gains is that I have to get up early.
>>
Currently in LEO academy. I am propably going to get a degree on law or something after graduating because it would help my career or I could just switch to civilian side of life if I get tired of being a cop.

It ruins my gains when we dont get our 2 hour lunch. Those days suck but are rare. Maybe once a month.
>>

The IT is constantly out of people and even without education you can get a great job offers if you actually know the practical things. I have a friend who was in a very similar situation like you guys. Failed like 4 years of uni in row, but he started learning in Unity to make games. He started on his own game and worked on it diligently. He landed a job in the game industry and making just a bit less then me and I have masters. They asked him to make a simple android game for them. And of all the people who submitted theirs, his was the best.

$55k/yr is good money but it's not a lot
>>
>>40909844
Well funnily enough I first studied nursing and I wasn't able to finish it, a mix of being tired of school and studying and just being a lazy pos in general. I got into HVAC after I dropped out by doing an adult education (literally translating here srry) and learning to become an electrician. I started working as an electrician and I wanted to specialise and develop my trade so I started looking for some more education like domotica and industrial electrician. But then a good friend of mine told me to get into HVAC and more specifically ventilation technician, his dad owns a now huge construction company and they needed ventilation technicians badly. So they sponsored that education for me and I got a real nice job with them, I further developed in HVAC by learning heating and soon I'll be learning cooling techniques(?). So I kinda got lucky because of my 'connections' but HVAC is booming in general so it shouldn't be too hard to get into even without knowing anyone.

What do you think is the easiest thing to do in IT? I've thought about going into it, but since I don't have much exp in it I don't want to get too stressed out learning something that very difficult.
>>
>>40908686
Depends on what you want to do. I have fraternity brothers who were finance economics double majors and went into investment banking - they work easily 80-90 hour weeks and are the bitch boys but in 5 years will be making 7 figures. Obviously working 80-90 hrs a week leaves little to no time for gym unless your dedicated.

Other career paths include sales, family banking, financial analysis, actuarial science (if you're good at stats), or any general business job.
>>
>>40909844
Whoops, I forgot to answer your other questions
>what's the pay?
Well right now I'm making 2200 euros net a month on paper, usually there's another 600 to 800 euros cash in hand. When I first started as an electrician it was only about 1600 net a month plus about 500 cash in hand.
>what's your daily work like?
Well simply said installing ventilation shafts and heating at construction sites. A lot of heavy machinery and lifting shafts and pipes. I won't lie, it's physically demanding. At the office it's mostly designing plans and working with the other tradesmen and architects.

Cyber security, best possible field to go into right now in my opinion. If you do Comp Sci you can open up your own cyber security business...if you go business you'll have a tougher time opening up a cyber security shop.

There is no such thing as too stupid for IT. You can learn most of programming languages to degree where you can be a code monkey at some big corporation, climbing little ladder to earn more monies, and the monies are quite good there usually. You need some brain to be good in some IT careers, tho.

>>
>>40909996
Not that anon, but also in IT. Mobile applications are quite a hype now, so learning how to program Android/iOS (or both) is not a bad idea, but from my personal point of view it's fucking terrible. I was deadlifting in the power room and chatting with the guy who's there, he told me how he works 60hrs a week because they only have two guys atm for the room. (Plenty of dyel staff but they want actual lifters for the power room)

I ask about who to talk to, go find her office and ask to talk about a position. I'm pumped and sweaty and I've been a performer since I was 8 so I'm very personable. She asked about my certifications "besides clearly knowing a lot about lifting" and I tell her none.

Got the job anyway for presentation, charisma, and initiative. Also luck because i was the first one to talk to her about it.

Did you have any previous experience before you started your degree? If not was it difficult for you to learn?

What is the general feel about the classes, are they more about learning hands-on or mostly notes?

Have you received any job offers yet? (Sorry for all the questions, just very interested in this degree and don't want to spend all my shekels just to change my mind later)

So you have to be an officer to be a pilot - which will require a college degree. I did ROTC at a state university. So if you hit the following you can do so:
-US Citizen, you'll commission before you hit 29 (They have 3-4 year programs, so you can't be older than 26), and be able to pass the Air Force fitness test. If you're on /fit/ I'm assuming this will be cake for you.
-You'll get a military physical, and some people get DQ'd. Usually with like a history of asthma, or other strange conditions. I don't know enough on this to be able to tell you anything more.

As for pilot, they have their own medical selection process, but I'm not for sure how picky they are. I see a lot of pilots with glasses so I know you don't need perfect vision anymore. I've always had 20/20, so I've never paid attention to the exact rules since they never applied to me.

The Air force website has specifics on all of these goodies. https://www.afrotc.com/program-requirements/medical

I didn't have a whole lot of programming experience, really just some fucking around with video game files trying to be haxor. I started looking at programming in languages like python before I started, but believe me when I say what I knew before I started was below basic.

For me the most difficult portions of my degree have been high-level math courses, like differential equations and numerical analysis, but most unis don't even have you take classes like that for a CS degree. And, whenever I've had a hard time with the class, the prof usually sucked. You gotta learn to learn on your own, or with friends, I think.

As for job offers, this is where I'm personally lacking, in that I never go and apply for internships or jobs, so I'm not really out there. I do know, however, that if you look for internships and you don't be a total sperg (shower, dress good, talk, laugh) you'll get an internship/job lined up. I know a couple guys who are either less than or my equal in skill, and both got internships with lockheed martin

Not that anon, but I would recommend it to you. If you into security, than starting with Python is quite good. Bretty easy language and heavily used in pentesting. Learning C/C++ is also a good idea, but it's much more harder to wrap your mind around them. I would definitely advice against learning Java/C#, as it would fuck your understanding of how memory works in computers and give you bad habits that will be hard to root out when you'll need to get lower (i.e. go into C or even Asembly stuff) and you will need to do that with security in mind.

Also side note: math is BS, especially in comp science. Statistics == Testing, Calculus == Numerical Methods and Coding theory and Linear Algebra == pretty much all CS at soft level.
>>
>>40910863

>>40911476
Never hurts to start early. I think a big misconception people have when starting out is that programming languages are like human languages, that they take a long time to learn. In truth, once you learn one, you've learned the basic concepts behind nearly all languages (Not strictly true, as the difference between 'functional - lisp like' and 'procedural - C like' are pretty big). I'd recommend starting with something nice and readable, like python, ruby, or lua. Java is also a decent starting language, as there is plenty of documentation and help available. After you get one down, you'll realize that all of these 'C - like' languages are pretty similar, and picking a new one up is easy.

Also don't sweat matrix / linear algebra. Most enjoyable math class I've ever had

I would like to transition into finish work because it's a lot easier on the body, but it's hard to break into. Also considering getting into private military contracting as I did 4 years USMC infantry.

I'm not understanding your argument. It costs a minimum of $65,000 annually to import a worker from India for an entry level programming job, and that's federal law in the U.S. Anyone offering you less than that is essentially telling you you're worth less than someone from the third world who can barely speak English and needs a business analyst to do all their problem solving for them. This means they have to hire two people for that position, making the cost of that employee considerably more than that annual $65k salary.
You don't have to have a natural talent for it, you just have to learn some soft skills and figure out how to perform well in interviews. Sell yourself as a problem solver as well as a programmer, and that 80-90k entry-level salary is a savings for them vs. hiring offshore + an analyst.
My team has an agile meeting once weekly, with a catered lunch provided by the office's in-house corporate kitchen, and my schedule mostly consists of standing or sitting in boardrooms with business users or senior developers to gather requirements, discuss strategies for tackling problems, et cetera.

It matters to larger companies, the ones who have hundreds upon hundreds of applications will usually cull anything below an impressive GPA.

That being said, if you can get a foot in the door and get yourself in front of them (assuming you're personable) that's your key to getting in. And once you get a job, GPA is literally meaningless.

I work 10 hour days a week on the weekends and my job lets me pick between 4 different 5 hour shifts throughout the week days that I can choose not to go to any if I dont want to. It's pretty chill I lift boxes between 10 - 40 lbs and just walk all day and build pallets so pretty much just light cardio all day and it's helped me lower my bf% without having to cut food. >There is no such thing as too stupid for IT
You are the kind of people I sometimes have to work with that are completely out of their depth and would be better suited arranging shelves in a grocery store than debugging their fucking code, aren't you.

No. You need to have a deep knowledge base and good intuition about computers, operating systems and understanding of logic to be in ANY role in IT that is higher than by-the-book tech support (which, let's face it, if you're doing for over 2-3 years you're doing something terribly wrong and no one would hire you for it when you're over 25). Sure, you can learn, but you'd need to put your heart and soul into it and unless you're already interested in the field you're not gonna make it, or worse - you will, and will be constantly afraid that someone will realize you don't know shit and just faking it and will fire your ass, and your colleagues will notice.

If you haven't tried your hand at programming, web design, compiling software, writing scripts, fixing hardware etc. by the time you're 20, I'd say don't bother.

I'm a cook and a server. Work every day, usually doubles. I've gained line 40 lbs since I got into the industry. I love it but it has fucked up my body. I am always exhausted and I eat and drink after work. I used to be skinny (anorexic desu) then I got to a healthy size and wanted to start aiming for fit instead of skinny but it all went downhill. Now I've got stretch marks and gross flab and it's really making me depressed but I don't know how to fix it. I was back on IF keto for a while until my by broke up with me and I started eating my feelings again.

I've had food issues my whole life and body dysmorphia among other serious mental health issues. I don't think I'm ever going to make it. I feel so miserable. I dropped out after a year.

Hated working in food service industry and went back after 12 months off.

Went at it like a job, never drank (no money) and got good grades in an easy degree (education, majored in Phys Ed) and worked my courses so I'd graduate with a science degree as well for only one extra year of study. Then sat entrance exams for med after graduating.

Now I have hella degrees, work for military, and get to cut mother fuckers up. Nice home in city, decided that Nioh, Nier, and Horizon looked good so two weekends ago I walked down town, bought them all and a ps4.

Med a nice a hot grill in med school who supports my lifting and puts up with my lactose intolerant farts due to whey, gonna marry her.

Fuck man. It's legit. I hardly even come on 4chan apart from to look at shitty fucking threads and remind people that it's possible to make it.

I'm not jacked though. I'm still skinny as fuck, I've been larger.

Like the world isn't perfect, but I can recommend taking time off, working and saving (or pay off all your debts) and clear your head; then go ham at school and smash it.

desu get a degree in a field with work built into it (nursing, teaching, medicine, law, paramedic/EMT, business management).

I have over 50k in debt but it's fine. Average annual pre-tax wage here is 55k and 1st year out of uni I made 68k pre-tax (gov job tiered pay increase every year). If you live like a reasonable human being, a graduate can pay off their loans quickly (if they're employed as one).

My buddy was an electrician, hated it, went and did IT or some shit (dunno the name) and now works for the education department stopping kids from looking at porn on school internet or some other IT shit (I think it's actually data security for personal info and whatever, but who cares). He's smashing his loans by just living in the same place he was before, drives the same car, eats the same food he ate before grad. And because there's no study, his job is actually easier than uni because it finishes at 5pm

Once you realise that it's ok to still eat oats and frozen veg even though you have a fancy job, and you pay off debts like a bill it becomes really manageable.

Depends on your personal connections and the area you live in.

For example, if your uncle or dad or best mate's mum work in a Business field and can get your foot in the door, do that shit.

If you have no leg ups at all (because you're not white enough), look into who's hiring now and who you think might be hiring when you graduate.

Read the book "So good they can't ignore you".

Give up on a rewarding career and look for a secure, or high income, or low stress, or in some way "Acceptable" job.

Then be good at it, and find joy outside of work.

The idea that your career has to be special, or nourishing to your soul, or make you feel emotionally rewarded is bullshit that the baby boomers fed their millennial children to placate them.

Unless you're rich (due to your parents) you're better off looking at yourself and deciding what makes a job shit, what makes a job acceptable, and find something in a STEM or a caring field (teaching/nursing/aged care) that balances the least amount of shit with the most amount of acceptable.
>>

Life is so much better on the other side of the poverty line bro.

And once you're finished studying, you don't have to take work home with you and you'll actually have real free time, and money so that you can do something with it.
>>
>>40919038
Age isn't as important as you think it is.
>>
>>40919788
It's not sad, it's liberating.

Find joy outside of your job and care less about your job. It's there to get you money so you can do and have shit you want.

Once you realise this you sweat the small things at work less. I once timed how many spoons I could polish in a minute, extrapolated that to spoons per hour and figured out how much I was being paid per spoon.

Made polishing spoons so much better. I could think to myself. "Would I polish a spoon for 27 cents?" (or whatever the price was). The answer was always, "sure why not? I could do heaps of them and make pretty decent money for basically no fucking work!"

Sure, it's not as cool as heart surgery, driving a tank, or designing a bridge, but it take almost no effort to get the job and there's no stress.

I have more expensive tastes than I could afford on that salary so I got a degree, but it's freeing to realise that your job is "just a job".
