Old thread BMI exceed 300 >>40893804

Who is /fat/ for? Fat members of /fit/ who want to learn how to eat right, lift weights, and lose fat. Here we ask others for advice and give moral support to one another. We all know how hard it first is and we all have to get through it to better ourselves. At the end of the day this is a support general whose goal is to help and motivate the chubby channers who need it. Please be warned that there are some chronic idiots who post in this general giving horrible advice that doesn't work for them or anybody. If you see something that contradicts what the sticky says, ignore it.

>THE STICKY (READ IT AGAIN)
>Calculate your Body Fat Percentage

>Track your calories and macros with MyFitnessPal, works best on smartphones

>>
Reminder: learn the core principles and do what works for you. /fit/ isn't the whole world. There's al ot of good advice/information here but ignore the attitude.

For example, I can't use MFP and things like that. I just can't autistically input information into a spread sheet a bunch of times a day like that. That's way harder for me to keep up than a reasonable calorie deficit.

I personally just memorize the calories of things I Could/use commonly, and look things up when I don't know, and stick to my calories like that.

Don't listen to someone who tells you you won't make it. Especially over something trivial. And don't give up.

Did a 20/4 warrior fast today, didn't even feel that hungry during. Did some cardio as well, 25~30 minutes of jump rope, I'm getting bretty good at it and suggest it for all the fat folk here, learning tricks is fun and keeps me focused on staying at it.

I think I'm gonna make it, not eating wasn't hard. Maybe your issues are psychological so try to deal with those and you'll be better off. Good luck to you other whales.

Well the first line of action is to eliminate the stressors if you can, but if that isn't an option than some healthier coping mechanisms might be listening to/playing music, socializing, low to moderate intensity cardio, meditation (this is a big one), playing with pets if you can... just try to figure out what helps you relax and unwind. Keeping a goof sleep schedule can really help both stress management and studying as well
>>
Fats, today I had 2 eggs, cup of coffee, 2 carrots and my vitamins, later I went to the gym with my pal, did 20 minutes of cardio, 20 minutes of each machine (4), then the gym trainer told us if we wanted to play basketball with them so we did. After my workout I red a book and had white rice and steamed vegetables (broccolli, cucumber, celery) and discussed philosophy with my gym pal, I don't really like it but he does so I make an effort to have a chat about it. Now I'm heading to a place and having some chicken breast and salad.

Fatbois we all are gonna make it. Keep it up, this fucking thread has helped me so much in the psychological aspect.

How do we teach people that it's easier to lose weight than it is to gain weight?

It's an absolute fact yet there are so many fucking fat people.

They don't even have to stop eating fast food and pizza and whatever else they eat. They just need to learn to eat less of it!
>>
>>40903912
It's been going great. I basically make the same meals I used to, just with more beans or tofu. Lost weight and am exercising daily.

My family has been very supportive. They are cutting back their animal product intake significantly and probably eat less animal products now than an average vegetarian.

What made you switch? Anything you read online? On here?

I switched after watching Dr. Greger's videos and doing some research myself on nutrition and factory farming.

It puts strain on your kidneys and chronically increases your blood pressure and is a major risk factor for heart disease. 90 percent of Americans will develop high blood pressure over the course of their life.

>Even if you don’t have high blood pressure, eating less sodium can help blunt the rise in blood pressure that occurs with age, and reduce your risk of heart attack, heart failure, stroke, kidney disease, osteoporosis, stomach cancer and even headaches. The extra water in your body can also lead to bloating and weight gain.

Yes. If you are healthy and hydrated salt is nothing to worry about. Just salt to taste.

If you are a fat fuck with clogged arteries so that any rise in blood pressure could cause a stroke you should watch your sodium intake and start exercising/losing weight.
>>
>>40904693
you also said " Fats have no micronutrients" before that part which is blatantly retarded.

Everyone knows to avoid trans fat, try to get as many good fats as you can and limit your saturated fats.
>>
>>40904782

Yeah, maybe some fats cause cancer.

What is your conclusion? Not to ever eat fat again?

My point was that his macros were too carb heavy and that he should eat more fat and proteine.

Red meat is a source for proteine. Its said that red meat may cause cancer. Applying your "logic" that means he shouldnt eat proteine anymore because some proteine might(!!) cause cancer.

Are you 12?

I would watch your salt even if you're normal weight. It's still a major risk factor for heart disease and stresses your kidneys.
>>
>>40904816
>What is your conclusion?
My conclusion is my original fucking statement. There's no need to conclude or extrapolate.

>Fats have no micronutrients, are extremely calorie dense, not very filling, and some fats cause cancer and heart disease.

>duhhh, so should I eat more trans fats?
No. Eat less.

>But should I eat more fats in general?
No. Eat less.

>But what about red meats? Should I assume that I should eat more of them because you didn't mention them?
Are you this fucking retarded? By my logic he should 1) eat less fat and 2) avoid fats that cause cancer and heart disease.

This is basic shit people.
>>
>>40904817

Its not. Its promoted by the nanny state/food industry to pretend about normies health.

Its for people who cant think for themselves.

I am aware that this is a fatty thread but you shouldnt indoctrinate fatties with half-truths just because they are easier to follow. Those fatties will turn into dyels at some point and then those half truths arent useful anymore or sometimes even harmful.

I just said, if you have clogged arteries too much sodium can be a factor. But its fucking salt man, if you are healthy and hydrated you have nothing to worry about.

That's just not true. Don't consume excessive amounts of salt. It can lead to osteoporosis and kidney stones even in otherwise healthy individuals.

>First, the more salt you eat the higher the level of calcium you will find in your urine. When you have more calcium hanging around in the urine your chance of forming more stones increases. Then there are your bones. More salt will rob your bones of calcium and kidney stone formers are at risk to develop bone disease. Although blood pressure is not the main issue for this site, high salt diets do increase blood pressure and reducing salt intake is recommended by all authorities.

Above 2,000 mg/day is high. I'd say above 3,000 is excessively high. Definitely not something you want to maintain day in and day out.

This week I averaged 1,786 mg/day. Highest was 3,445 mg lowest was 612 mg.

I don't think this instinctual jump to tough love you've all been conditioned to respond to fatties with is beneficial.

The FPH threads are justified, of course. Those people have convinced themselves that there is nothing wrong with them. Mollycoddling won't work.
But for a thread full of recovering fatties trying to overcome their demons, I don't think beating them into submission for every transgression will do a fat (hehe) lot of good.

If they're doing something wrong, or could be doing it better, tell them why and explain it. But don't berate them for trying. This is an educational experience after all, not everybody will get it right the first time.

I was lucky and had a gym right next door to where I lived. Used to do like 20-30 minutes runs on the treadmills, I say runs but for like the first month or so it was just a power walk since I had fat people knees.
Lifted every spare moment I had, which I think I failed at spectacularly since 20kg barbell still feels fairly weighty, definitely lighter than it was but I can't just swing it around with ease.
As for diet I just cut junk food and fizzy drinks especially out and stopped having snacks and late night meals.
I still look chubby but I'm not the sack of lard I used to be. It's nice not to have bigger tits than chicks do for a change.

>>
>>40902221
Fatties get out REEEEEE
>>
>>40906766

Yes you nigger. You can lose weight going to McDonalds every single day if your calorie intake is below your TDEE.

The problem with that strategy besides a bunch of obvious health ones, is that it's calorie DENSE food. So you don't eat a lot before you hit your calorie max. So you get hungry again sooner/get less full in the first place from a larger amount of calories so you'll be hungry the rest of the time. So it's harder on the willpower.
>>
>>40906766
I mean it would probably be awfull from a nutritional standpoint and you would feel hungry as fuck throughout the day but technically, sure. As long as you eat less calories then your TDEE you will lose weight.

The main point of not eating certain "calorie dense" things is that they have a lot of calories but dont make you feel as full as other foods so you are more likely to eat again, with enough willpower it doesnt really matter tho.
>>
>>40906782

Too many calories make you fat. This stuff is technically real and blah blah but it's irrelevant. Eat fewer calories than you burn and you lose weight regardless. Keep it simple. Eat lots of vegetables because they're low calorie and full of micronutrients. Eat lots of protein so you don't lose muscle. Eat some carbs and some fat both because you need 'em and because they round out the dish you're cooking. Stay below your cutting calorie window.

All of this shit is just arguing over whether your preferred cheat meal is "really that bad" I swear to christ. I'd bet at the bottom level of these arguments that's the main motivator.

I boil my zero noodles in vegetables stock and add some salt+petter with some garlic granules.

When you're fat the diet food has to taste amazing to not get immediate cravings.

I just bought two zucchinis, made them into noodles myself and Googled "how to zucchini noodles." Prepared vegetables are always way more expensive. I literally don't understand how vegetables could ever seem bland though; I ate and enjoyed a whole raw cucumber yesterday
>>
>>40907658
I always use raw vegetables, I just had a shitty spiraler that kept cutting me, so I stopped doing that. I basically have 10 different vegetables a day, and I'm a vegetarian so I know my stuff, but I find raw vegetables to be really bland if you don't season. Just throw in some salt and pepper to improve any dish massively by giving it any depth.

Raw cucumber and celery are decent no calorie snacks though, and obviously you can't season those
>>
>>40907683
>obviously you can't season those
Idk about celery, but is throwing a little bit of salt and pepper on cucumber slices not a thing everyone does?

Eat nuts like almonds and walnuts for the healthy fats. A small handful is around 200 calories, so it's not that difficult to fit those in.

Nuts are very healthy for you but they are calorie dense which isnt obvious when you eat them just how many calories can be in them.

Guys I have a question. I began a cutting a few weeks ago (beggining of march) losing 2kg a week at a steady pace. I managed to go sown from 97kg to 91 in 3 weeks. However since the beggining of this week I haven't lost a single gram in spite of keeping my diet and exercise exactly the same. Is this normal?

Had a really good day yesterday in terms of discipline bois

Friend wanted to get pizza but I told them I had a shit ton of meal prepped food so we should do it another time. Then, friends wanted to go downtown to go drinking but I said I didn't have my fake ID so i couldn't go. Picked them up later and they smoked me out for free and I didn't give into munchies.

Feels good bros

It's not unheard of especially if it's a steep deficit or you're still adjusting to it. Just keep in mind that once you shed the fat it'll definitely be working better - don't neglect your cardio, either. Low BF + cardio = optimum dick game once you're off your cut or on a more gradual cut

went from 176 to 167 in four weeks. I'm really scared I'll fall back on old habits. Last weekend I ate a bit of chocolate and started craving shit food and started feeling like procrastinating going to the gym. Today is the first day in a few weeks that I'm going out with a friend (I've been going to uni and work) and I'm not sure what I should eat. I guess I could eat moderate burger with less than 400 cal (it fits my day), but still... I'm afraid of changing the formula of the last few weeks and throw my progress away.

Yeah, yeah. Blog posting aside, thank you guys! All of you have been a big help.

guys is this healthy to eat every day. i'm really poor so i can't buy much. trying to stop eating processed junk all the time. i have no problem eating the same thing everyday

1. 2x chicken breast
2. 1 cup of mixed vegetables (carrots, broccoli, cauliflower)
3. scrambled eggs
4. peanuts (i'll eat peanuts for the calories, so around 1000 calories from peanuts per day)

this ok? i've been eating a high sugar processed food diet for the last 7 years with almost no vegetable intake.
>>
I know it's probably all water weight but I'm down 5 pounds from when I first started counting and doing regular cardio two weeks ago. Feels so cash.

But then that day I split a cheese pizza with a friend. What would usually be a meal was way too much for me but I still ate three slices, felt overfull, not doing that again.

I had budgeted 850cal for dinner, but the MFP counts for pizza are really varying... I'll be ok, right?

help me /fat/

im 5'10, 20 years old

at christmas i was 169 lbs, got norovirus and i couldnt lift or eat a lot for about a week (at this point i was bulking)

i decided to start a cut and was eating 2300 kcal/day, lost weight. However, I am now 146 lbs, and while i can tell I have lost fat weight, I can also tell I have lost muscle mass. My lifts are weaker than before.

How can I be sure I'm primarily losing fat and not muscle? I was at least approaching thicc mode before, now I feel and look like a skeleton again, it's disheartening as fuck.

Eating 2150 kcal/day now. I keep losing weight, but signs of fat loss haven't been apparent, I'm not getting more vascular and my abs have stopped coming in.
>>
>>40910780
eat more protons, juice up. and get out of /fat/ you skelly
>>
>>40907493
L-london?
>>
I got back in the gym today after three years of not lifting. I used to power lift in college.

6' 370 lbs
185x5 bench
225x5 squat
315x1 dead (the back didn't feel reliable after that one, so I backed off)

I feel weak as shit. But I've found a gym I like, where women don't laugh at me for trying to get in shape. Changing the diet, of course, will be the hardest part - just yesterday I ate almost an entire loaf of bread with butter, 12 oz of fish, 4 rice balls, and a salmon roll. It was my only meal for the day, but it was a lot.

Just gotta eat slower. Take my time.
