the leg press is more effective then the smith squat and less chance of injury you shouldn't smith squat when better alternatives exist the pure squat is substantially better than smith squat as well

Damn. I go to a budget gym and even we at least have both.

Mimics a free weight exercise while taking away all of the benefits of free weights. Doesn't transfer to sport or everyday movements at all.

Get into the free weights and just use a kettle bell to do front squats. It'll force you to have better form, or you'll fall over.
