Should I buy 45 lb plates or 55?

I believe 45 is standard for many increments, I may be wrong since I'm Kilogram Master Race.

You are correct
OP, where the fuck did you even find 55lb plates???

I imagine the 55s would be taller which would screw up lifts from the floor (deads, cleans, etc).
Then again, I got cheap plates and the 45s are two inches shorter than they should be. Bring a tape measurer to the store, you want 17.5 - 18" plates.

I got a 10 kg standard bar so got 55s (25kg). One pair mean the bar is at one pl8 and two just give me a little change to get four pl8 out the rest of my standard weights. Handling a 55 also helps with when you're at an actual gym, you're not worrying about looking like a novice or a pussy handling 45s or whatever stupid thoughts happen to pop into your head.

I would unironically love a 50kg pl8.
