This probably isn't very /plg/ related... but do I need to be super obsessive with calorie counting? I'm on a cut right now and I just eat two clean meals per day with high energy, but when I bulk I can usually have a good gut feeling with how much I'm having per meal. Is this a shitty way of dieting or will I be alright?

What is your target rate of weight loss? Like lb/week or lb/month.

Make a spreadsheet that maps a straight line of what your weight per day should be with linear weight loss.

Also plot your daily weight. Of course your daily weight will fluctuate so you won't follow the linear line exactly, but if your calorie consumption is on point it should follow the general trend.

Do one plot for linear trend and day to day weight, and one plot for the linear trend and the 5 day average of your weight (cuts out some of the noise).

If eating just off your gut feeling lets your weight track your target loss reasonable well, you'll be fine. If not, you should try track calories.

Either way you should make the plots so you can actually see what is happening to your weight in real time.

Probably not much. If you get really strong without a belt then adding one doesn't make that much of a difference
A good example is alex, he was squatting over 500lbs 1rm when he added a belt in and he didn't even notice a difference
Same thing with squatting low bar, he's so efficient and has trained the motor patterns etc of high bar deep squats with a big stretch reflex he'd likely maybe even be weaker if he changed to low bar and cut his depth. Could be wrong but I don't think so.

I'll try to get some, front squats are super smooth for me and no tightness anywhere. Biggest problem is keeping ribs down/neutral spine in a backsquat. All the drills I try and it's impossible for me to keep a neutral spine and squat. It's much easier when I front squat.

I mean, when you squat, you lift about ~70% of your bw, so clearly doing 5 squats @ 80% rm is much harder than doing 5 reps of bench @ 80% rm. Why is it never taken into consideration?

squats were good.
bench felt strong but the pauses were way longer than I was prepared for and I missed my third at 10lbs less than my gym pr so I was disappointed.
deadlift felt strong and I locked it out but my knees were unlocked so I didn't actually lock it out.

so anyways I felt strong but I was only competition-ready on one lift so I was a little disappointed overall. still got a 411 wilks though so that's cool. hopefully the competition in august will be better. I'm making sure to do longer bench pauses and trying to lock out deadlifts better now so hopefully that won't happen again.

If cardio is something that interests you I'd recommend daily maxing running

I've been running every day and I add 30 seconds to my time a day at a set pace until I am able to run for 10-20 minutes at this set pace, then I'll increase the pace and aim for 10-20 minutes.
