I never got this 1pl8 meme. Could someone explain it to me?

It means one plate.
You put one full size plate (45lb/20kg) on each side of a 45/20 barbell
So 1pl8 = 135 pounds/60 kilograms

Honestly, I don't know why anybody bothers using it as a metric. Except I guess you don't have to worry about conversions because plates are universal.

I'll probably get shit on for this but how can you not outright deadlift 60kg as a grown man? Maybe I was too active before I started deadlifting. At first I practiced the form and then I wanted to see how far I can comfortably go with 5 reps.
