Are you asking if they fuck your knees? If so, no. atg squats are fine for your knees because the sheer force only happens above parallel.

Yes most people either ruin their lower back dipping below parallel, or cheat themselves out part of the movement by bouncing. If they can achieve a neutral back at ATG and they don't bounce, then the next question stands that their stance allows them too much mobility and probably isn't loading up the quads enough for that stance to be their strongest position.
The bigger meme here is ATG gives you more glute activation or is a butt builder.

If you're a weightlifter then ATG squats will help you recover from both the clean and the snatch.
For general strength and not sucking at life parallel (or an inch lower) is sufficient and you run less risk of fucking up your lower back

Squats are an assistance lift in oly lifting. Since you need to be able to get out of the hole (lowest point in the lift) going ATG makes sense.
