My gym card picture is from around 5 years ago. In it there is a picture of me wearing a medium sized shirt that I still have. I can't wear it anymore because I'm XXL. XL, kind of fits, but not really because shirts ride up my gut when I put my arms up.

Why is it so easy to get fat? 5 years ago I was obviously health conscious, since I had a gym card. I still go to the same gym, and have been for about 5 years, and every year I get fatter.

Is it time to admit that our food supply is addictive and toxic, or are we just going to keep blaming consumers who keep getting fatter, even though recreational exercise is at an all time high? We have been blaming them for 30 years, and every year they get fatter while Coca Cola, McDonalds, Kellogs, and General Mills make even bigger profits. We need supply side policies to beat obesity just like we needed supply side policies to beat smoking. Cigarettes are taxed to hell in Canada.

If you know you are addicted and thst the unhealthy food is bad for you, why the FUCK do you still eat too much of it? How about blaming your own fat self instead of shifting the blame you fat cunt. anything above a size large is a fucking disgrace mate.

Yes. There should be junk food tax. We would think that natural selection will wipe out fat people, but it doesn't. They still keep reproducing and making just as fat and lazy people as themselves.

As for you, OP, you are a literal dumbass. Since you say that you've been working out for 5 years and still have gotten fatter and fatter, I will assume that you are either

1. One of those people who think you can outrun your fork
2. So weak-willed that you can't resist cravings

Listen, even though it's bullshit that we're surrounded by candy and food that we would think were healthy, but are actually packed with sugar, your weight gain is all your fault. Hell, I'm very chubby, but I manage to eat less and healthy to lose weight, and it's very effective. You should read yourself smart on the topic and start all over again.
>>
>>40713844
>1. One of those people who think you can outrun your fork
>2. So weak-willed that you can't resist cravings

This is 3/4 of the people in any developed country.
>>
>>40713751
Here is your fuck (you).

No one is at fault for your own choices other than you yourself.

Retards like you make it already harder and harder for companies and consumers.

People used to do much more labour, people used to spend their time outside or with family, hobbies must often meant some sort of physical exercise.
Values were not broken down.. now no one is being held back by the thought of being fat, because no one shames that anymore.

The poor couldn't get fat because they were poor, now they get welfare.. so a double problem... they don't work AND can still buy shit... should I have to mention that capitalism made everything cheaper and gave more variety than ever before?

Too bad capitalism coupled with retards such as yourself ends up with degeneration and a never ending drift towards government.
>>
>>40713904
I think you're just mad because I proved that you can get a gym pass and still not make it.
>>
>>40713921
>I proved that you can get a gym pass and still not make it.
No. You proved that YOU can get a gym membership and still not make it.
>>
>>40713950
So I'm definitely right. You're just mad that will power isn't enough to succeed, and that the food supply is working against you every step of the way.
>>
>>40713921
>I think you're just mad because I proved that you can get a gym pass and still not make it.
Is this some kind of argument?!

Where is my molyneux folder god damnit.

Fat people can have gym memberships and even visit them frequently.
Doesn't mean fuck all if they don't put in the work, which you obviously don't.
>>
>>40713921
What you're really implying is that because more than ever people are joining gyms, that they're actually going regularly, let alone have a healthy diet. I started going to the gym last year, lasted about 2 months before stopping altogether. Didn't go back until the last week of December. I never cancelled my membership.
>>
>>40713921
> Buy gym membership
> Never go, not even once
Why can't I lose weight, I've got my gym membership!!
>>
I grudgingly agree with OP. Most of the population is too stupid and lazy to be trusted to look after their own well-being and the rest of us have to pay for it in the long run. This is the same reason why libertarian politics is retarded.

If you go to the gym and jog on the treadmill for 15 minutes and burn 200 calories, then going home and rewarding yourself for that by eating candy worth of a 1000 calories is not going to help. You just ate a caloric surplus. The only way to lose weight is to eat at a caloric deficit. Exercise doesn't even matter. Just eat less.
>>
>>40713965
I wasn't fat when I started.

>There should be junk food tax

There absolutely should not be. Consumers should be free to purchase whatever legal goods and services they choose without penalty. A tax program of this nature is an overstep of the government and gives them more of our money to squander.

Government policy is not the solution. Personal responsibility and social pressure is the solution.

it's not policy, it's human nature.
In the last 30 years social pressure has basically been outlawed because of MUH FEELZ. Personal responsibility has been pushed out the door because irresponsible fat fucks have found it easier to spend their time blaming their problems on anyone and everyone they can. If the vast majority of hamplanets spent as much time learning about proper nutrition, proper exercise/training, building a diet plan, building an exercise plan, and going to the fucking gym as they do shifting blame onto others and justifying their irresponsibility, they would have seen serious positive results.

Not the guy you're replying to but

>I fail to see why this is society's problem.

It's our problem because of socialized healthcare. The taxpayer foots the bill for these people to be kept alive. Imo, calling obesity a disease is retarded, if you get to the point that you're obese, your healthcare shouldn't be subsidized.

Libertarian politics are the solution
Fat people can pay for their own food to get fat on and their own healthcare when it happens
Under a libertarian system fatties are only a burden on themselves
>>
>>40715246
Yes exactly. That's why market-socialist states like Sweden and Japan have such high obesity rates. Oh wait they don't.
>>
Fat fucko losing weight here.

It's because we get used to the body we have.
I'm losing weight and despite the fact that I lost 22kg, I still feel the same as I was before.
We see ourselves everyday, if we gain weight or lose weight, we get used to it so we don't actively notice how we changed.
>>
>>40714082

Yes, blame the fat idiots who keep buying and eating shit food in excess. Take some personal responsibility.
>>
>>40715310
95% of people who lose weight gain it all back within 2 years. The food supply is poison.

Why are you faggots against taking some of Kraft's profits for producing Oreos because of the damage they do to society? You were all on board for doing that to tobacco companies.

Then the coca cola people have made a good point. You're not a victim in this, you share a good deal of the blame if you end up fat from your own eating habits.

>>40715416

Even though I'm sort of semi-lolbertarian, I kind of agree with OP.

>you share a good deal of the blame if you end up fat from your own eating habits

Yeah, you do, but the problem with modern life is that you have to make effort to avoid even just being overweight. What I mean by this is that becoming overweight is now the easy default, but our bodies and psychology still think we're in an environment where the default is starvation.

And it is way more effort than people admit. There is a billion $ industry that has very successfully spread the meme that the obesity epidemic is due to lack of exercise. There are more billions of $ spent on lobbying and advertising on behalf of products that fool people into thinking they are healthy - granola bars, fruit juice, sweetened yogurt, fruit salad.

You have to be very informed to be healthy. And it's hard to become informed because so many people are giving so many different and often conflicting pieces of advice, it's easy to become lost. Put yourself in the perspective of a typical fast-food eating couch potato normie. Let's say he resolves to become healthier, how might he do it?

>Replace sugary cereal with special K and skim milk
An improvement, but still shit tier, tons of wheat and little protein
>Replace Subway lunch with "low fat" yogurt and fruit
Still shit, tons of sugar
>Instead of pizza for dinner eat spaghetti
Still tons of wheat, and lots of sugar in jar of sauce
>instead of watching TV, go running
Need to run like 50 fucking miles to burn off a pound of fat.

All the time our normie friend believes he now has a healthy diet, not understanding how much sugar and refined wheat he is poisoning himself with.
>>
>>40713786
>addicted
>>
>>40715919

>fruit is shit tier because it has sugar
>"low fat" is just a meme and people should eat all the fat they want and only worry about sugar

Ultimately the onus is on the individual. Plenty of non fat people in the world.
BUT
This doesn't mean that sugar/ fast food peddlers are not complicit in making everybody fat.

I judge fatties on an individual level, but I blame the companies you listed for this "epidemic".
