Used as recovery. Taking before bed is most effective in building muscle. Working out after taking it will take gains.

protip: stir it a few times and drink it fairly quickly, then add a little more water to get the residual stuff which sank to the bottom of the cup. I find a lot of it doesn't properly dissolve in a solution.

outside of body building and endurance it may have some other benefits like neuroprotection.

The balding meme is due to studies which have shown it can raise DHT levels at least for a while, which is good cos DHT is the most masculinizing androgen. If you have an inherited tendency to bald it may contribute.

Creatine monohydrates bonded with magnesium may provide a more efficient, faster-transported creatine to the muscles since part of the chemical reaction needs a magnesium atom.

But it's much more expensive. The classic creatine monohydrate has a short loading phase (10-14 days) but there's no need to spend the extra money to get by that. Waiting 2 weeks to get the desired effects is a minor inconvenience.
I've never heard of anyone having those other side effects either.
