is keeping your head up durring sqauts a meme or not?
dunno but bump
Keep it neutral
Head up keeps my chest out for some reason. Helps keep my form.
I pulled my neck and couldn't lift for 2 weeks because I kept my neck up.
Neutral spine always. There is no reason to look up.

Gotta look up to go up, its common sense. Helps with trap activation too.

keep it in line with your back
It's a good cue for beginners to keep their back straight / chest up that becomes a habit many people never change.
A lot of people thinks it helps, when in the long run it puts you at higher risk of injury than keeping the chin tucked and in-line with the rest of your spine.
I agree with these sentiments of neutral head positioning, since it feels less strenuous for me. But then why do most professional lifters arch their heads up? Not just while squatting but deadlifts and oly too?
I raised my head during 4plate deads and my neck near exploded and it fucked up the rest of my workout and made me question everything.

If you wanna snap your shit up. Better keep it in line with your back, which often times at a 45° downward angle.
