I think when your shoulder head is already moved too far up then the exercise just hurts.
There are exercises to depress the shoulderhead, but imho, as soon as you do some benching/OHP again it will go right back up.

Lifting just inst cool for the shoulder, you will end up with shoulders that can't do certain movement pattern.

Retracting your scapula on lat raises I mean. I obviously do it on chest exercises.

What do you mean? Pull your scaps back, then lift your arm up. You should retract your scaps for damn near every lift dude.
