try retracting the scapula when doing them

I think when your shoulder head is already moved too far up then the exercise just hurts.
There are exercises to depress the shoulderhead, but imho, as soon as you do some benching/OHP again it will go right back up.
Lifting just inst cool for the shoulder, you will end up with shoulders that can't do certain movement pattern.
