Hey /fit/, is doing SL and HIIT a good idea when trying to lose weight? I keep getting mixed responses.

yes.
Pls halp

Its your diet that will determine whether you lose weight or not. Obviously exercise helps with that.

sortof. Ultimately, the best way to lose weight is diet (think how much easier it is to cut 300 cals on a day rather than run 2 miles)
That said HIIT is a great way of increasing your daily activity. At lower intervals, it's also great at building anaerobic cardio (perfect for martial arts!), and at higher intervals it's just a really fucking hard way to build aerobic cardio. Caveat is that the focus on squats in SL will shrek your legs and make doing HIIT unnecessarily hard.
I'm currently doing SL with c25k + core on the days in between the SL days. You could similarly do HIIT + core in between SL days, and that would help you focus more on developing cardio rather than pushing super-weakened legs, but do be aware that it'll hamper recovery for your SL's the next day. If you pick this route, make sure to keep having at least one rest day per week (don't do anything more intense than walking or some low intensity biking).

I've been pretty strict with my calorie intake. Cutting 1800 calls but my weight won't budge. I've been at 229 for the past 4 weeks. Lifts keep going up pretty consistently however. Pants and clothes fit pretty much the same from when I first started.

You're counting wrong, or calculated your TDEE wrong

The way I've been doing it is MWF is lifting and Tuesday and Thursday I do HIIT. Weight has stayed the same tho.
Why does this bitch need to take up 2 benches for an exercise that can be replaced by an exercise that requires half of the dumbells anyone else uses?

And why the fuck is she wearing gloves for an exercise where no hands are involved at all?

How do I calculate my TDEE? When I first did it. It said my TDEE was at 2,300 calories. Isn't that high?

2300 isn't high really at all. That's what I'd consider average for a male
I lost a lot of weight eating around 1500-1800 calories a day for 6 months.
