Early Morning Lifting

Circumstances dictate that I must get my workout in before 6am. It's alright on cardio days, but lifting first thing in the morning is tough.

How do I fix this? Anyone else have experience with early morning workouts?

By far the best approach is to shift your sleep schedule earlier. If you can fall asleep every night at 9pm (and i know you can, because you're single and have no life), then waking up at 5 isn't so terrible. The key is that you're getting your sleep at the same time every night.

if youve ever been jetlagged this is basically the same thing. if you can consistently sleep the same hours out of every day, your body WILL get used to it. blackout curtains or a sleep mask can help you if light is an issue

You're probably right re: adaptability. It'll get better with time. Might get back on bedtime casein shakes so I don't feel quite so weak when I wake up.

anecdotally, i dont think protein is that important. its more about that morning fog. when I wake up, I have a few puffs of my vape (juul), and then eat eggs with hot sauce and coffee. Wakes me right up

Yes, becuase if I go any later, my gym will be littered with teenage faggots on every piece of equipment in sight.

How long have you been going early, OP? You need some amount of time to adapt to it. I don't know what that'll be for you, but it wasn't that long for me. But I work night shift, so I go to the gym right after work, mostly, while I'm already wide awake and ready to go.
