Yes and no. If you have few cigarettes with your beer on the weekend or at a kickback thats fine but smoking days in a row will take it's toll pretty quickly if you pay attention to how you feel. Your lungs need rest and time to clear themselves out and habitual smoking in any amount will cause cumulative damage. People that are smokers are too stupid and weak willed to deal with the consequences of nicotine withdrawal they wrought on themselves so they keep puffing away telling themselves a few cigarettes a day every day is negligible.

Smoking helped me cut, especially when I was on keto. Read somewhere that smoking helps to get over car cravings, and that seems to be the case for me.

I know it's not good for me. I run about a 14:30 2 mile, down from my best time of 13:14. But that was a couple years ago in basic, after 5 months of no smoking and running every other day.
