What are the pros and cons of putting butter in your coffee?
>>

it tastes good t b h
>>
>>40603549
its basically like cream, so it's only natural to put it in coffee

just don't fall for the "bulletproof" meme, literally any coffee and any purified butter/ghee will work just fine

i even just use plain butter sometimes and voila it doesnt make a difference

Another benefit is longer lasting energy. Since blending it makes the caffeine molecules bond with the fat molecules and since fat is so calorie dense and takes longer to digest and enter your system, so too does the caffeine.

literally every experience i can find for this says the same thing, since caffeine is fat soluble. It takes away the jitteryness and the crash and gives a smoother, more leveled energy
>>
>>40603665
No. I'm stating you sound like a purveyor of bullshit.

"Food" and "nutritional" sciences are close enough to the human plane of existence that everyone can have an intuition about it. And I'm pretty sure that means that vast majority of people are walking around ready to confidently spout bullshit they have never seen evidence for, and have maybe anecdotally seen a correlation for.

the idea is that it is because caffeine is fat soluble, and fat takes longer to digest in the body because it's more calorie dense

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3407246 here is from a study about caffeine absorption on varying levels of fullness and whatnot
>>
>>40603773
thats why most people blend it, turns it into a nice light brown color, same as if you'd added already liquid cream
>>

>>
>>40603795
lol that study is literally about caffeine absorption in various levels of gastric emptying, i.e. fullness i.e. satiety i.e. what a high fat diet notably provides

just because you're not able to decipher the science jargon doesn't mean it's unrelated, man.
>>

>>40604347
You seem to be missing the point cuck, more calories in a meal means a slower rate the stomach shits out food particles into the small intestine. Fat is more calorie dense so less food particles are shitted per unit time. Because caffeine gets stuck to the fat and its absorption occurs in the small intestine not stomach you get smoother pharmacokinetics
>>

still no explanation for "additional energy"

That's very simplified and isn't true for every compound. Aspirin, for example, gets mostly absorbed in the stomach and is not much affected by stomach contents either.

Pro:
-tasty in a hot buttered rum type drink, way
-appetite suppressing for a while
-easy way to get a bunch of fat if you're keto or running a high fat low carb diet

Con:
-don't need more fats if you're not doing keto or high fats low carb diet.
-apparently some nerds on the internet will judge you.

it doesnt give "additional" energy it gives longer lasting energy. It doesnt peak and then crash, it's a steady burn throughout the caffeine being in your body

As can be seen from the structure (fig.1), caffeine has few hydrophilic regions represented by amine and amide groups. These hydrophilic groups would reduce the absorption of caffeine, thus leading to a reduction of pharmacological effect exerted by caffeine. However, caffeine also contains few hydrophobic regions, which are represented by aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons. These hydrophobic groups would increase the lipophilicity of caffeine, thus allowing it to be absorbed into the body, especially across the BBB into the brain and exert its action.

While it has more saturated fats, it has less of the harmful long-chain saturated fats. Still not a good thing to be drinking.

Pro: If I see you doing this, I know you are retarded and to stay away
Con: It tastes terrible (I assume), it looks terrible, it is terrible for you, and it ruins coffee.

Seriously, if you are going to drink coffee, buy a nice burr grinder like an Encore or better, a pour-over of some sort, an aero press, a moka pot, a scale, and a gooseneck kettle (grinder, scale, kettle, and one of the brew methods can get you started). Then go get some good, fresh, lightly roasted beans (no more than 2 weeks old) and make yourself a cup. Get it down and you'll never think about ruining coffee with butter ever again.

I've actually done it before (keto). Its good for endurance type energy and blunts the hyperactivity of caffeine and extends the energy it gives you. Perfect for a long run, hike, or biking session.

Would not really recommend for intense workouts.

I always use good quality light roast coffee, which has more caffeine than the burnt shit, so its nice to have the caffeine effects spread out. I don't really think its placebo, I do feel like I have a lot more endurance, but I would never drink it like that if i was planing on being sedentary for a while afterwards.

Also, you're supposed to blend the fucking thing, otherwise the butter melts and you get a nasty layer of fat on top. You want to get it creamy and frothy. Its basically like adding cream to your coffee.

Bottom line, its not bad if you add 200 cals to your morning coffee if you plan to burn at least a few hundred right after. You might even have a net gain as your body is more primed to burn fat easier.
