ive been tempting fate for ages i think the bench was only rated to about 220 total weight?

was an awful looking set desu my arch wasnt big enough and i hit the safeties but the power was certainly there

going to buy one rated 350kg

ill never bench 240 so im golden

yeah, 350-110=240

so ill be able to bench upto 240 on it
>>

probably better the get a solid flat bench too unless you really want the adjustment
>>

i would, but im doing conjugate so ill be rotating in incline and seated press

got two options

the bodymax one is cheaper by £50 and is rated higher but doesnt look as sturdy

The powerhouse one looks cheap as fuck, I wouldn't trust that over 200.
>>
>>40583556
Any way you could get some support under the upper part of the back pad? Looks like neither will be particularly stronger than what you just broke.
>>
>>40583600
Wish I could arch like that.
>>
>>40583616
the strengthshop one lies flat on the frame so has more support for flat bench

seated isnt a problem as the weight isnt going into the backrest and incline im not handling anything big

if its rated for 350 it should hold 350, or ill get my money back, im probably going to go for the strength shop one
>>
>>40583646

was touch and go not paused

im not going to overhype my lifts anymore because i know theres a load of variables when it comes to competing that you dont get in the gym

travel, hotels, different benches, potential for a rushed warm up, hurried onto the platform, random doing a hand out, different bench on the platform to the warm up area, width of plates, the list goes on

4 weeks out ill take a paused single, whatever that is ill do 90% 97% 104-5% as my attempts on the day

Need a new barbell as my 6ft one doesn't have enough space for the weights I'm getting to without them falling off mid set.

Do 7ft bars have longer sleeves than 6ft bars?
Is there a difference between power bars and olympic bars?
Is there a reason besides marketing for the wide range of prices of bars? If I get the cheapest bar I can find will I regret it?
>>
>>40584207
Ive bent 4 cheap bars, and that was with 220 and under, oly bars, especially cheap ones arent built to take any sort of weight

Yes the sleeves are longer
>>
>>40584259
Why the fuck aren't oly bars made to take weight?

You may not be reliable with bench recommendations (lmao) but if you could link a decent bar at a good price I'd be eternally grateful. I train in my garage too.
>>
>>40584288
(c) Regardless of the load rating of the bar, please choose the bar most appropriate for the type of lifting it will be getting used for. For the bars rated to 700lbs we generally do not recommend going above around 200kg. For the weightlifting/bastard bars we advise up to 120kg for clean/jerk/snatch or any similar lift where the bar would be dropped from height. Anything heavier than this and we would recommend Strength Shop Elite Weightlifting bars. TheStrength Shop Weightlifting bar(s) and bastard bars, whilst rated to 1500lbs, are essentially weightlifting bars, and we would not recommend using it for very heavy squats/deadlifts (roughly 250kg+. For this we would always recommend the The Bastard Power or the Texas bars). The Bastard Power Bar is recommended for use up to 340kg deadlift and 300kg squat. We never recommend dropping bars when deadlifting, the bar should always be lowered to the floor in a controlled manner.

From strengthshops terms

Their power bar is the best priced power bar in the uk, not as strong as the texas bar, but thats £400 over here, the strengthshop one will take 340 dead 300 squat as stated above

Question about greg nuckols.

He mentions increasing lifts by 5-10 lbs a month. But where is the sense in increasing the bench at the same rate at the deadlift (or better yet, if you choose to use a bench program for OHP, having the rate of increase for deads and OHP the same)?

not wholly relevant to bench per se, but my close grip bench feels immensely easier and more natural if i do it paused. hardly even feels like the same exercise and i used to dislike it before i tried it paused.

Kind of a long shot asking here but whatever, someone might have an idea

So stone and sandbag lifting is both hardcore and (probably) older than recorded history.
But I don't have any bigass stones or sandbags handy.

I'm trying to brainstorm some sort of loadable sack to use as a training implement. I figure I can get 40-60lb bags of whatever-I-can-find for pretty cheap, but I'm not sure what I could load those in so that they're one solid mass.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm a bit lost

It's not fucking nitpicking I'm asking for something fairly specific but people are just confused because I mentioned sandbag lifting. Im trying to make a bigass bulky heavy sack of shit weighing more than me.take Arthur Saxon and his big ass bulky bag of shit as an example.

I have a concept already: a thicker sack that can be loaded with smaller sack of gravel or sand. I just need to know what material I can buy that will hokd up.

all you need to figure out then is how to attach a handle, and how to make the bigger bag able to open/close and still not rip open while you throw it

I don't think I'm experienced enough to give you an answer. The best way to build strength in a specific movement pattern is to do that movement pattern. However, not everyone will be stronger with a max grip, even given enough time to train it, and generally you want to train in the way you'll be/are strongest. But if I had to pick, I'd say bench the way you're strongest for PM.
>>

>>
>>40587199
If he's doing it the way I think then its basically a 2-day DUP with
Day 1
6x4 Spoto/1 ct pause bench with last set tng amrap
Day 2
5x2 tng with last set amrap
Start day 1 and 2 at around 70 and 80% respectively and add 2.5kg per week, resetting when the reps become too grindy.

Trying to work on speed off the floor

Deadlift
>80% x3 60-80 second rests
>repeat until bar speed noticably slows

10-15 active rest (walking around blacked out from moving heavy deadlift really fast)

Power Shrugs from floor
>Idunno% x3-4 60-80second rests
>Repeat until bar speed noticably slows

Active rest until ready for next exercise

Slightly cheaty but not pete rubish cheaty Rows from floor
>Idonthaveamaxforthis% x3 60-80 second rests

This guy >>40587397 is basically right except the plan is to do it in 6 week blocks and restart at a higher point than the last. If things get tough I'll chuck in a deload week occasionally and a week to test maxes every now and then.

My bench 1rm I used to start was around 110 but it was a rough estimate as I was coming off a surgery and a break.

I've copied caditos upper body set/rep scheme for accessories too just because I quite like it.

As for Sq/Dl I've tried to make a version like this. I run an upper/lower split right now. I like it but I'm not fully happy with my lighter day yet so still playing around with it.

Basically it's like a power clean except the weight is too heavy to clean and you don't triple extend or try and get under the bar. Just gdt the thing as high as possible with your traps and posterior chain.

Just needed something that's lighter than a full deadlift but had some incentive for speed.
