6'8, long femurs (of course), I feel low bar squats more in my quads than a high bar squat, why is this the case? I squat the same depth and try and push hips back in low bar but I sort of let them naturally do what they want to do rather than HIP DRAHHHV. Anyone else had this? I noticed the weight was easier too however it was my first time doing it so I was a little unsure of myself but definitely felt easier than when I used the same weight high bar.

how long are your femurs

I don't have a measurement but definitely long enough, old picture attached, the black line is my hips.

relative length is what matters, not absolute length, but it looks like your femurs are relatively long as well (relative to height)
my guess would be you put your back in a superior position to counter the natural forward lean long femur squatters have, so you could focus more on actually performing the movement
ime squats don't work particularly well for training quads if you have relatively long femurs (not saying they won't grow)
eventually your back will be a limiting factor while your quads can handle a ton more volume
might want to incorporate direct quad work after a while
No you're not supposed to

In any case a video would be better
>does squats
>feels the knee extensors being worked
>is confused why

I don't really think I wanna keep doing it, just feels a bit wrong doing the movement for general aesthetic/strength purposes, if I wanted to max out a 1rm then low bar would be superior since I would use more posterior chain but for my purposes of big legs, high bar still is my preference. More impressive shifting 140kg high bar than a low bar, I was just curious as to why I felt it more in quads than a high bar squat with the same weight. I'm very flexible and stretch daily, very upright torso in high and even low bar squats.
I still felt use in my lower back like the tightness you get and glutes, I just felt a burn in my quads that I pretty much don't get with high bar which is unusual from what I've heard/seen.
Thanks for your info though, I currently high bar squat/front squat ABA/BAB style 3 days a week. Felt a lot easier low bar but doesn't fit my overall purpose.

that's not what I meant you've just strawmanned what I said. I understand my quads are going to work obviously, what I'm saying is, I feel it more than when I do high bar squat, I pretty much never get that burning feeling in my quads when I squat the exact same weight as I did low bar. I'm asking is it normal to feel it more and if not, what was the reason which I'm guessing was me not pushing hips back enough.

Thanks for the vid, guess I just have to push hips back a lot more, just due to high bar/front squatting 3 days a week and flexibility work I have a lot of ankle flexibility now and squat very upright leverages considered so my motor pattern is no doubt wanting me to be more upright. I still did feel it in lower back as I replied in the post above, just found it bizarre that I can feel it in quads more with the same weight than high bar :S
