I'm assuming you are doing this for Lent. I would try to make it more of a spiritual issue than a physical or health thing.

For example, I'm a pretty chubby guy and I would like to lose weight anyway, but I recognize that it would be vain to spend Lent simply trying to make myself look better. So I'm making it more about overcoming my addiction to eating (especially bad food), and thus I'm not going to weigh myself at all and try not to check myself out in the mirror. Additionally, I'm trying to add some more praying each day, especially through the hunger pains to ask God for the strength to persevere and St. Michael to fight the devil that's tempting me.

Btw, I'm planning on doing one meal a day, nothing on Fridays, then anything anytime on Sundays. I currently feel fine, having not eaten anything yesterday for Ash Wednesday and not eating my meal today yet, but I will see how I do after a few weeks in.
