While it is true that your brain works best when your body is fit and well adjusted, there's no reason to believe acient philosophers were fit.
Bodybuilding techniques were not invented yet, people knew next to nothing about dieting and Olympics were about running and fighting, not lifting abstract weights. In that context it's quite surprising that Hercules is muscular as fuck. I mean I know he's a hero, but someone probably posed for this or the sculptor know anatomy very well.
