>take melatonin
>sleep until 5AM
>feel sleepy but a bit okay until 3PM
>don't take melatonin
>sleep until 8AM but feel like shit until 12AM

Who else here isn't seeing the effects of melatonin?

>melatonin
>>
Melatonin can be used to help with insomnia and is considered safe as a short-term option. It is best used for people with low endogenous melatonin levels, jet-lag, and delayed sleep phase syndrome. It is not FDA approved for insomnia compared to its counterpart Ramelteon which is FDA approved for insomnia and has more data.

Going off of data for ramelteon, it can take up to 3 weeks of continuous use before the full effects kick in. This may also be true for melatonin since the two drugs are relatively similar, but again there is not enough data to say for sure.

i used to get 7-8 hours of sleep a night and would feel like absolute dogshit all the time.

lately I have been experimenting with 9 hours of sleep and holy fuck I have so much energy and my mood has improved. I am not happy with losing an hour of day where I could be doing things but I think my body requires the 9 in order to function correctly.

Speaking of melatonin I heard it depends on the person since we make it anyway.

Melatonin is naturally made in the body and the amount we make can be affected by the amount of light that we are exposed to.

This is why first-line treatment for people with insomnia is actually not medications, but correcting sleep habits such as reducing exposure to televisions, computer screens, and especially phones that all give off blue light and reduce the amount of melatonin made in the body.

How long you been a vampire buddy?

It took me 5 months to adjust.

To the OP

you only need 2 - 3 mg. Any higher at regular intervals will fuck you up good m8. It can cause depression.

It also only tells your brain that it is dark out. It's not a sleep aid

>Be me
>Be senior in HS
>stopped exercising
>didn't realize it helped with sleep
>also very anxious
>keep getting 3 hours of sleep
>keep downing melatonin
>keep going into an alcoholic -esque void
>actually pick up brewing and it only gets worse.

Then i graduated without losing my V card.

That's the fucking worse part, I did 6 months 5 months ago, but because I'm single (lol) I have to cover night shift whenever someone else can't come and do it on their turn. Was made to start another 3 months of night shift 2 weeks ago
Intermittent sleeping is fucking me up
>>
>Get 8 hours sleep
>wake up feeling exhausted, can easily stay in bed half-sleeping for several more hours

>get 6-7 hours sleep
>wide awake as soon as I open my eyes

Maybe I just need less sleep than others, but I'm a little bit concerned about not getting 8 hours since that has been the recommended amount for as long as I can remember.

What do /fit/, is sleeping <8hrs bad for me? I do tend to get a bit tired in the afternoon, is it because I don't sleep enough?
