Who is /fat/ for?: Fat members of /fit/ who want to learn how to eat right, lift weights, and lose fat.

Here we ask others for advice and give moral support to one another. We all know how hard it first is and we all have to get through it to better ourselves. At the end of the day this is a support general whose goal is to help and motivate the chubby channers who need it.

Any suggestions on what to do when you're hungry but have nothing to do? I was thinking of downloading some Emulators.

I've been doing a pretty weird cut, i it's a mix of keto and iifym (bare with me here)

So what i do is reach my protein goal eating lean proteins, that's normally somewhere around 500-600 calories, then i just eat whatever the fuck i want to fill the 30g of carbs i can eat everyday to stay in keto

I like to indulge on peanut butter, cookies (some cookies have like 6g carbs per cookie) a hotdog, a sandwich (each slice has 15g carbs) etc. On average i eat around 900 calories a day, and yes i'm taking my vitamins so i don't pass out.

I don't have a problem with binging, but i don't have the willpower to not treat myself a little everyday, i still should be losing a ton of weight right?

i thought most people recommended eating 20-25g a day to stay on keto? some people even go up to 50g and claim their keto stix still shows positive

i was doing 30 because it felt like a good middle ground, i actually lost 60lbs in like 5 months doing this last year, (psmf of 1200 calories a day, but 0 carbs) but decided to take a break from it since i didn't want to do it long term, went from 330 to 270 in 6 months, then just watched my calories for another 5 months, got to 250, and now i'm trying to start the cycle again with a little different approach (eating 30g of carbs of whatever i want). I guess i'll see if it works this Wednesday on my first weight in

Besides keto i lifted 2 times a week and did some hiking every day of the week (not on weekends)

well i was heavy as fuck so don't be surprised. And it was pretty consistent, i stopped when i got chickenpox and almost died (never let that shit hit you in your mid 20s), the doctors went all bananas when i told them about my diet and i was pretty tired of eating chicken everyday too so i just decided to do a small deficit of 400cals for the next 5 months, but now i'm feeling pretty good again so i'm down for it. But desu i'm probably just gonna lift now and see how it goes

Depends how you look at.

If you are just counting calories then i suppose you dont care to much about your protein/carb/fat rato just that your overall consumption of calories is below or at your goal

IIFYM is similar in that, you have 1800 calories, for example, and that with those calories.... Your macros of prot/carb/fat are going to be consumed at specific ratios.

I don't think I'll balloon the way I did a few years ago, since that was mostly due to a long time living the "college lifestyle", so I think it was a fluke that I got so fat in the first place. So how many of you actually answer questions and add input to others asking for help? Is it a universal rule to not answer something simple if the sticky answers it?

What if I asked something like what the general idea of losing weight is? It's to burn more calories than we eat basically but let's say you eat just the right amount of calories to keep losing and you do a 300 calorie burn workout, what does that mean? do people mostly just do the jogs and walks to make sure they don't go over what they need to eat in order to keep losing weight or can you practically get away with no exercise for months while keeping an exact diet and not breaking for the entire time?

I know you want me to read the sticky a second time after asking this but I just want to know if everything I read here gets trumped by the sticky? You guys have had progress so I'd just feel more comfortable hearing it from you.

You can lose with diet alone but it's very hard with exercise alone. Most people I know either calculate tdee-500 and do not subtract workouts (though they log them) or just eat between 1200-1500 calories per day in small meals or IF. Exercise as lifting 3 times per week and cardio can be done daily but we don't subtract workout calories.

Usually start the day with a big omelette with cheese and sometimes bacon. This is my favourite part since I love breakfast but I hardly ever ate it before.

I eat a tin of oily fish every other day, mackerel or herring. Plenty of fat and omega 3.

Usually have a plate of steamed veg most days, brocolli, cabbage, carrots and whatever else I have in with plenty of butter.

For my dinner I'll usually have some sort of meat with a salad or steamed vegetables. For example yesterday I made some moroccan style lamb meatballs with a cucumber and mint yoghurt and a greek salad with feta cheese and olives.

The hardest part is eating while I'm in work, I really need to start bringing a salad in.

I do like to cook. I usually make pasta and pizza from scratch which is most likely why I got fat in the first place.

Cooking isn't hard unless you're doing some super technical french cuisine shit. You just need to give it a try and accept that you will ruin some meals but you'll learn from it. That lamb dinner I made is super easy, you should try it:

Body fat is made whenever you overeat on ANY of the macros, be it fat, carbs or protein (or alcohol).

Dietary fat is actually less likely to make you a fat fuck since it's more satiating than carbs and imo less addictive. It also brings numerous health benefits for your brain and other bodily functions that carbs do not provide.

I never liked running outside because I was a fat fuck, but now that I'm losing weight I decided to give it a small chance and ran for like ten minutes. The thing that stood out to me was that I started sweating almost immediately while on the treadmill I only sweat from my chest and back after about five minutes into the workout.

I hit my initial goal today, from 230 to 180 since September. 230 was just barely obese, I worked my way through overweight, and 180 is safely within "normal" BMI range so I set that as my first goal, plus -50 pounds was a nice round number.

I still don't look "good" and I still have a long way to go, but I'm still stoked. It's now more accurate to say "My body composition is poor" instead of "I'm a big fat obese fuck".

My next goal is 10% body fat which is probably around 150 but it's hard to tell so far away. Thanks /fit/.

I'm 3 weeks into a back injury, which seems to be a herniated disk although the doctor said it was so minor I don't even really need PT.

Still hurts a bit and the muscle on the other side of the back from the pain is SPASM as fuck, shit is rock hard.

I don't know if I'm going to make it.

I had that same experience. I went from 3000~ calories of absolute trash, and kept min/maxing for nutrition and satiety and found I could eat 800 calories (2 reasonable sized meals of meat+veggie+small carb) and feel full all day. Then I had to go from drastically lowering calories to drastically raising calories, so cook with a little butter/oil, have some tasty but nutritious calorie-dense snacks (cheese, peanuts, fruit are my faves), have significantly larger meals, almost anything works.

I don't ever feel "hungry" like I used to before losing weight, and now I see that that "hunger" was mostly out of gross habit rather than my body actually telling me it needed nutrition.

Newfriend here. I started lifting around 3 weeks ago, after not being able to look at myself in the mirror. Doing ok so far, I go there 3 times a week, for around 1 and a half hours. I've been thinking about doing some cardio in between.
My biggest issue so far is that I get too anxious when I see people much fitter than me. I still go though, and I'm enjoying, so far so good

Keto is hard but effective. Low carb/high fat is easier and often effective. How low to take the carbs depends on the individual.

With any new diet or eating plan there is usually some adjustment often with hunger cravings or both. You have to be tough and get through them.
Are you drinking enough water? Keeping busy, dividing your calories to last the day? (But still counting them strictly by weighing your food?)

Long ago when I started, I didn't know how to move the safety bars on the power rack to do my 65 pound squats, and I was super embarrassed to ask some huge scary bald guy deadlifting 4 plates. He was super friendly and told me exactly what I wanted to know and told me to come to him if I had any other questions.

Once a couple of Chads kept pointing and laughing at me, I assume for my pitiful weights, but I just finished my workout and left, and yeah, felt shitty, but it was the only time anything like that ever happened.

Honestly the best way to get into shape "FAST" is too do some sort of contact sport. Whether boxing, MMA, wrestling, they are the best and most grueling on your body. I wrestled all throughout high school. I walked around at my normal weight of 125lbs and by the end of practice I was 119.8 and set for my weight class of 120lbs. Think about that. 5 pounds in one practice

Do any of you stick to a set diet or do you switch it up every now and then? How healthy is it to only eat chicken, avocados, peanuts, lettuce, peppers and onions?

How did you have such visible stretchmarks when only at 235? I was 270 at my heaviest, at 5'9, and mine weren't that visible, mainly because they were hidden underneath my gut. Was it because I also had muscle underneath my fat at the time? I had more muscle than most fat people because I used to work out a lot, then I fell off of the train. I'm not sure.
