How long did it take you to reach this milestone?
>>
0 months
i hit 1 plate bench first time i hit the gym
and did 2 plate deadlift first time hit gym too
but before i hit gym i was doing body weight exercises
>>
started with bar and 10's, took me 8 months to hit one plate
>>
>>40528965
5 month before first time for reps, started at 65lbs .
>>
>>40528965
If you weigh 100kg it's gonna take <1 month

If you weigh 60kg it's gonna take >6 months
>>
First time I went gym:

6' 220lbs 16yo

Bench: 60kg for 3-5

Squat: 60kg for 5

Deadlift: 140kg for a couple

OHP about 40ish kg

Now:

6'1'' 260lbs 22yo

Bench: 140kg

Squat: 180kg

Deadlift: 220kg

Not been training consistently.
>>
>>40528965
I could bench 1 plate when I started
>>
>>40528979
And you hit 8 plate on the scale first time you hit the gym too.

Real WR there anon.
>>
First time I ever stepped in a gym I was able to do 135 for 6 reps
>>
>>40528965
about 2 months after I started benching, but I had been doing a lot of pushups in my room for about 4 months before that. I was 135 pounds then... hard to believe I'm 40 pounds heavier now

>>40529063
this isn't true. i did it in a little under 4 months at 127 lbs

i lifted 1.5pl8 bench first time i hit the gym

Ive always had a strong chest and back so i could bench 1 pl8t at the very start. I cant dd 1 pl8t tho.
>>
>>40528965
You mean 2 plates? 1 plate on each side of the bar is 135, that means you bench two plates.

I did 135 when I was 15
>>
20 yo 79kg hit 1pl8 in 3 weeks
>>

>>
>all the people ITT who benched 135 first time at the gym
I'm curious, how long did it take you to do a pullup?
>>
>>40529670

Quite a while desu, took me like 2 months to do a chin up
>>
>>40529670
First time I went in, I could hit 1pl8lmao
Took me a month to do a full set of pull-ups.
>>
>>40529378
Bullshit, 1.5pl8 is 80kg. No skelly is benching 80kg first time.
>>
>>40529598
>>40529627

I'm beginning to think all these people benching 1pl8 in their first month are this retarded. For those who are unaware;

1pl8 is 60kg.
2pl8 = 100kg.

It's one 20kg plate either side, plus the 20kg bar.

On topic, it took me about 3 and a half months. Went from benching 30kg at the start, weighing 63kg at 6' tall, to now benching 72.5kg at 72kg. (BW woo)

I was a skinny 64kg fgt and I started benching with just the empty bar, it took me around 8 months to reach 8x2 with 1pl8.

Now I'm benching 8x2 1.75pl8 and I can't wait till I finally reach 2pl8.
>>
>>40529627
No it's just correct. He's actually benching 2pl8s. It'd be quite funny to watch somebody benching 1 or 3 pl8s/

"1 pl8" is one 45 lb plate on either side of the bar. 135lb.
"1.5pl8" is one 45 lb plate on either side of the bar, two 10 lb plates on either side of the bar, and two 2.5 lb plates on either side of the bar. 180 lb.
"2pl8" is two 45 lb plates on either side of the bar. 225 lb.

So on and so forth.
>>
Me too m8, managed to do 5-4-3 after 3 months of lifting. Feels good desu senpai. 40kg OHP coming up this week too.
>>
Started benching at 0.5pl8. Took about 6 weeks to get to 1pl8. Probably could have done it sooner but I got scared because no spotter.
>>
>>40529965
how can it be 1pl8 if there is 2 pl8s on the bar?

Because all measures are always doubled
Since it's obvious that the weight is going to be symmetrical, and that pl8s are the biggest unit of weight available in most cases, it ended up like this.

1pl8 means SYMMETRICALLY 1pl8
If 2pl8 meant 1pl8 on either side it would be a completely meaningless achievement on any lift

That's what the "lmao I was squatting/DLing/benching/OHPing 2pl8 my first time in the gym" thing is about

No one fucking does that in reality, it's mocking those that think 2pl8 = 1pl8 (and those that lie about their stats)
>>
>>40530200
If Of course I makes more sense to have the bar loaded up symmetrically, that's why 2pl8lmao is 135
>>
>>40530268
Yeah, exactly
I noticed now that I miswrote in one spot
To be clear, I'm saying that 2pl8 means 135lbs/100kg

>tfw remembering failing the last rep of my last set at 65 lbs and girls laughed at me
>tfw people with childhoods not spent behind a computer screen literally start with 1pl8
oh well, nobody's fault but my own
>>
>>40530284
135 lbs is not 100 kg
A lb is like 0.6kgs if i remember
>>
>>40530284
>>40530268

Wait, fuck, I misread YOUR post now since I'm used to kg
2pl8 is 100kg/220lbs
That's what 1/2/3/4 means

It means 1pl8 OHP, 2pl8 bench, 3pl8 Squat, 4pl8 DL

If the standards were the ones YOU think, it would be laughable
>>
>>40530303
Why would somebody press 1pl8? Is that a stablazation exercise or something?

Oh and 4pl8s would be 225, not 220
>>
>>40530339
>Why would somebody press 1pl8? Is that a stablazation exercise or something?

Dude are you serious or just retarded

4pl8 is 405lbs
225lbs is lmao2pl8

I mean, thinking of it, there's no way you could've kept not understanding after the 1/2/3/4 example
Or shit, after a simple google search

Good job I guess
>>
Took a while. I started off with 10 per side, now I do a plate and 15 per side. The stronger you get the progress starts slowing down gradually.
>>
>>40530395
Kg and pounds my guy
>>
>>40530462
what about kg and lb?
>>
My first time benching I did 1pl8 although quite wobbly.
I did a lot of pushups and dips regularly though
>>
>>40528965
29 years ago, like when I was 14/15

Basically the first time I was in a gym
>>
>>40529009
Yeah I was full skelly belly and I started at 65lbs too.

Now I can bench 245 for 5 so that's pretty darn neato but I'm like 30lbs heavier
>>
Just hit 1 plate today. Took me 3 weeks
>>
>>40528965
Day one. Still have an embarassingly low bench though.
>>
>>40528965
I'm confused, isn't a plate like 45lbs?
Or maybe my gym doesn't have anything bigger than that.
>>
>>40529670
I did 135 bench day one. Since starting lifting I have never been unable to do at least 5. I have gone up to 13 down to 7 and currently am at 10.

>tfw stats are better than couch potatoes but still not impressive at all
I'm in the forbidden zone.
>>
>>40530607
Yeah, and 1pl8 means one plate on each side of the bar
135lbs bar is a nice starting goal, it takes some weeks to achieve and it's one of the most "showoffish" ways to know you're becoming stronger for normies
>>
>>40530674
Oh, I forgot the bar has it's own weight.
>>
>>40530674
no. 2 plate is the cut off limit to start to show of normies. 1 plate is the pathetic dyel start off place that normal people should bench on their very first day of benching
>>
>>40530674
But the bar plus 1pl8 only equals 90 pounds...
>>
>>40530737
According to google the bar weights 45lbs. Unless you're using a smith machine which is 15lbs.
>>
>>40528965
Literally when i first started lifting a 14 at the beginning of freshman year. Hit 205 a day before my 15th birthday. 3 years later my discipline and motivation has died down and its 270
>>
>>40528965
first time benching when I was 13
>>
>>40530785
1pl8=45 pounds
bar=45 pounds

benching 1pl8= 90 pounds
>>
Freshman yr of hs was the first time I touched a weight, before that it was just body weight excercises. Was 130 lbs. Hit it for 3-5 reps. Be mad. You wont make it with shit genetics.
>>
>>40530874
Gtfo if you dont even know that 1pl8 theyre referring to a plate on both sides of the bar.
>>
>>40530874
Man you must have some incredible fucking stabilizers.

I'd love to see you squat.
>>
>>40530896
1pl8 on each side of the bar would be two pl8s
>>
1.5 years. Over that time I lost 40 pounds and had hernia surgery.
>>
>>40530917
Less than two actually because they make a hole in the plates which makes them lighter.
>>
>>40530956
I'm near the equator, so where I am the plates actually weigh 45 (sometimes 46 if it's hot).
>>
>>40528965
First time I ever benched I got 135x4. And I was pissed off at how weak i was.
>>
>>40531050
True, but you still need to factor in the orbit of the moon (tidal forces). If you lift at night with the moon above then the bar will be lighter because the moon steals the plate's gravity.
>>
8-9 sessions where bench was incorporated, so about a month of lifting. Gonna hit 2 pl8 within 10 weeks.
>>
>>40531080
Because of this I always lift during the day
>>
>>40529627

>>
>>40531113

>>
First time I seriously benched I did 185 lbs at 6'2" and 205 lbs. I'd been working construction for several years before that though. I benched my bodyweight a month later.
>>
>>40528965
i benched 1pl8 when i was 15, a few months iirc. it was a long time ago, HS football introduced me to the weights
>>
>>40530291

At least you're working on it man. Can't start with anyone's body but your own. Remember you're not competing against others. Just what you used to be.
>>
honestly it took my 6 months to hit a plate bench, then another 5 months to hit 2 plates for some reason.

i had a athletic background (rugby/baseball) but i made the mistake of doing SL 5x5 for the first 3 months before hopping onto GSLP until I hit a plate then doing 5/3/1 until a 2 plate bench.

Always been able to do around 10 pull ups in a row after the age of 13. Honestly, I don't get how people couldn't start off with 135 unless maybe they weighed less than that or they hadn't done anything athletic in their entire life

I can squat 1.5 pl8, and I'm 130 lbs.
>>
Weighing 205 lbs, I started last month with a bar. Last set I do AMRAP and hit 15 reps at 80 lbs. I'm still moving up 5 lbs every workout, and hoping to hit 3x5 1pl8 next month if all goes well. That puts me in the Untrained category on the Standards chart. Yay...

When I started the gym over a year ago I was skele mode and weighed 60.5kg. I couldn't even bench the bar with 5kg on each side.

I am still skele mode but weigh around 70kg and I do 4 sets of 12.5kg on each side of the bar. I can bench 15kg on each side but would struggle to do 4 sets.

The dream is to bench with 20kg on each side!
>>
Still hasn't after 2 months of serious lifting. Well maybe I could but I never attempted it. I am at 0.75 plate for 5x5 for now. 1 plate bench is bodyweight so I prefer not rushing and getting injured

I just hit 2 months into serious lifting earlier this week and I'll hit 1 pl8 bench by next week, so a little over two months for me

I still bench one pl8 and I've been lifting for almost a year

I stopped for a couple of months and I'm really dedicating myself to it now but it feels bad man

took around 7 months to get there I guess

Is /fit/ entirely comprised of superhumans or something ?

Who the fuck benches 135 on his first gym day without previous athletic activity ? Why would you even lie on the internet ?
>>
>>40528965
Did calisthenics plus cardio for a month or two before I hit the gym and hit 1 pl8 for 3 first day. Felt good until the next day when my shoulder felt like it fucking broke.
>>
Used to play sports back in HS and benched 2 plates on my first day
>>
>>40538221
i was benching lmao1plaet for volume within 3 months of lifting @ 15y/o and 135lbs.

i was athletic as a kid and then fell for the vidya meme. dyel, stick thin, malnourished, and 135 was ezpz.

>benching bodyweight as a beginner

I don't think so, Tim.
>>
>>40528965
I started with 1pl8
>>
>tfw stuck at 1.5pl8 for 6 months
>>
>>40529063
was 90kg and took me 6 months
>>
>>40529099
Reminder that if you don't hit 2plate bench within 8 months to a year of lifting then you either aren't actually trying or are a genetic failure.
>>
>>40528965
almost a year. started at 145 bw, after a year i was the same skelly, with less bodyfat and slightly more muscle mass. now after another 6 months i'm closing in faster on that 2pl8 bench since now i'm not a retard anymore and i know how to train and how to eat properly
>>
>>40529099
I was 165 at 6'2" aka skeleton and managed 155 my first time benching with no prior athletic training

Enjoy your beta bitch boy genetics
>>
>>40529063

Started as a NYRfag at 145lbs, up to 150lbs now and just hit 4x8x115 last week for bench, which most calculators seem to think suggests I could ORM a 135. Gonna try later this week.

All those dyels calling people who benched 60kg at first time gym fat lmao kys
Its called being active and playing sports in childhood and teenage years and not being a basement dweller
>>
>>40538221
e-statters gonna e-stat.
>>
>>40529378
dude i was 60kg @ 185cm and I was literally skeleton as fuck.
52kg would be sickly underweight and unhealthy. also 80kg bench at 52kg bw is almost advanced level and that would be for a short person, not for a sickly auschwitz survivor lanklet

even you claiming only 50kg on bench at that bw/height sounds unreasonable
>>
I felt good that I could do 1 pl8 bench until I realised that it means on a 20kg bar, and my bar isnt a proper one. I felt so stupid after that.
been lifting just 2 months
>>
>>40528979
This almost.

First time I tried bench I got 115 pretty easily, didn't try again until much later but I was doing a lot of Dips/Pulls ups. Also did a lot of sprints and practiced doing flips and shit.

Also I only weighed like 160ish pounds at 5'7.
>>
>>40538169
Try pyramid sets. Don't know why I've never seen anyone suggest them on here. I pyramid set for like two weeks then go for the next 5 lb increment of my 5x5
>>
>>40528965
3 months.
