Been trying to find more efficient ways of training, and was wondering whether there is a difference between the two (contraction speed of muscle versus the power output of a muscle) or whether they're synonymous.

My own attempts at finding legit sources have come up a bit empty so far. Anyone able to provide an answer?

You should take a few seconds contracting the muscles, as if you could stop the weight at any point in the lift and hold it, this way you are fully in control of the weight and it is your muscles working rather than just relying on momentum to do the lifts for you.

Sorry, it seems I should add more detail to the question.

To be more specific, I'm trying to figure out whether the contraction-speed of the cells in the target muscle have a high to very high correlation with the peak power output of the cells.

Shameless self bump.

On the cellular level, is contraction-speed synonymous to peak power output (as with lifting more kg)?

My guess is yes. I've seen Rippetoe talk about how the best athletes are able to tighten the most muscles the fastest. It's what gives them explosive movement like running and tackling in football or jumping high in basketball. He said that having this ability was genetic and can't really be trained.

I've been training slow concentric movement under heavy duress (5rm weight for 2-3 reps) and anecdotally, it's improved my athletic performance massively (speed, power, and 'functional strength').

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
