Home gym here. I basically watch some shit on my TV while I lift and rest.

I can lift more and it isn't boring

I use to just look at my phone in between for my first few years lifting.

Recently I started approaching people near me, introducing myself and having a quick chat.

I thought I hated socialising but now that I've started doing it more often I'm beginning to like it. Now I actually know a lot of people at my gym instead of being the autistic mute.

I spoke to 3 new people today, actually had decent interactions.

I'm definitely what they would call a "hard case" in that I was shut in for 10 years playing World of Warcraft. Feels like I'm slowly turning into a normalfag now, socialising gets easier and easier. Who knows I might actually start going out to social places soon, maybe level up my social skills in the gym abit more first!

Because the majority of people in gyms (I'm talking like above 95%) never push themselves, they think that going 'too far' is bad, and they lift the same 5 pounds dumbbells for the 3-4 months they bother going to the gym.

In every gym there's never going to be more than one, maybe two guys at a time who are actually on routines that require 5-minute rests

I look down at my feet, then look up at the ceiling because I avoid chats with people. I also don't ever look at people's face when I'm walking around the gym, it's annoying. People try their hardest to make a long eye contact as we are walking by but I always look away or look at my phone.

Only decent thing about the city I moved to is the locally owned gym. Literally a hole in the wall and machines and free weight area are cramped as fuck.

It's literally comfy as shit and it's a close knit community. Wouldn't trade it for the fucking world

Nice to see some people in the same boat as me!

Though I find people usually approach me since I'm a skeleton who low bar squats 115kg which is more than 95% of the free weight users.

Normally I'm autistic as fuck but I've had nearly a dozen conversations with my squat form as the starting point. People usually ask for tips, a lot of people don't even know the difference between low bar and high bar so it makes talking easy when I can give them a shit ton of advice. Then after that whenever I see the same face we can catch up and it just flows naturally.
