What is fatty general? A thread for fat members of /fit/ who want to start eating healthy and lose weight.

Here we ask others for advice and give moral support to one another. We all know how hard it first is and we all have to get though it to better ourselves.
At the end of the day this is a support general whose goal is to help and motivate the chubby channers who need it.

Daily reminder you fapping habits mtter
>>
>>40500627
Well i am currently around 266lb and intend to try to get down to 200lb, 5'9.

I dont intend to be hyper masc or a skellington, i like being slightly chubby like pic related but i do intend to keep it around that level

>>40500651
I was referring once i get to 200lb, i am currently at 266 and losing slowly with diet and some home exercises.

But i want to be around that pic related body which needs some daily exercise anyway so i assume it ll be useful ONCE i get to 200lb and have the$$$ to get some machine home to work with to keep that bodytype.
>>
Fatty reporting in

I'm 6'2
Last May I was 310, now I'm 235 and working down (but I've been slacking off recently).

What do you guys do to keep on track? I want to hit 200 before summer
(a number I haven't seen on a scale since middle school)

Ex-fatty here.

You guys might be looking for a support group, but this is a perfect place for fatlogic to take root and fester.

Remember that the sticky trumps everything you read ITT.
>>
>weight stalled
>pants keep getting looser

Could this be me gaining back the muscle that I had lost during my two year hiatus from lifting? This has been going on for like three weeks now.
>>
>>40502400
>have the$$$ to get some machine home to work with to keep that bodytype.
jogging in the park is free. Doing pushups is free.
>>
fatties need to get educated (sticky) and then bullied (rest of /fit/), you don't need a hugbox
>>
>>40502514
Arent certain tools way more effective at the end of the day though? I mean if you could do everything faster without any of those tools then we wouldnt be making those tools.

Again though like i said, this is for the future, right now i am doing certain exercises(wall pushups and others, real ares are nope.jpg) and diet
>>
>>40502498
That's why we're here, Bearmode here still.
I don't have a life outside of work, the gym, blacksmithing and my fiancé. Quell the fat logic and set people on the right path.

Daily reminder IIFYM is a good diet that lets you enjoy unhealthy fatty foods and lose weight.

You dont need to eat ultra healthy shit like rice/chicken for your entire life.

it is a simple calorie deficit that you need
>>
>>40502588
Agreed this is what I preach.
Energy out > energy in and you'll lose weight. Stay on your routine and on the IIFYM plan and you'll definitely lose weight.
No more pretended it's your genetics and other bullshit. You're fat because you binge and are sedentary, period. Don't come on here and point fingers because we're all adults here and the person responsible for your gross body is in the mirror.
>>
Ketofag here, down almost 50lb. I hit my goal weight and have been maintaining on keto and the various adaptations of it while lifting.
Any of you fat fucks considering keto?

>Inb4 meme diet
>>
>>40502618
Why are certain things like coke, milkshakes, frappucino etc not allowed though?

i mean they dont have that many calories, 100-400 isnt that much yet everyone says to avoid them.
>>
>>40502669

They spike your blood sugar, make you a lot hungrier, and just take a chunk out of your caloric intake for the day making it hard to stay satisfied
>>
>>40502669
>Why are certain things like coke, milkshakes, frappucino etc not allowed though?

If you're a fat sack of shit, you won't stop at just one. Don't delude yourself.

You need to replace these things.

>milkshake -> protein shake
>coke -> coke zero (or zero cal green tea)
>frappucino -> black coffee + zero cal creamer
>>
>>40502749
Adding a 400 gr pack of frozen berries to a protein shake makes a nice replacement for both milkshake and frappes. Add espresso to the last one for coffee taste. 100 calories extra but loads of fibre, healthy and low GMI.
>>
>>40499260
>>40502400
That is around 190-200lb imo, still a little fat but not dangerous fat like 266, if you want it go for it imo, it is a good goal.
>>
>>40502689
>make you a lot hungrier
Ah good to know, that does make sense, i sometimes ate more later the day because of a morning frappucino in the past.

>>40502749
Nah much rather not drink anything but water, if i am going to drink something it ll be something tasty and worthwhile, i ll just have to have the meal planned so it ll fit in it

Any suggestions for fun cardio? Currently I just alternate between cycling and running.
>>
>>40503081
Swimming is my favorite cardio.
At that weight I'd suggest avoid running too often and do more cycling for better joint health.
>>
>>40503177

Is cross-country skiing okay on the joints?

im the guy with the exercise bike and used to drink jugs of tea

im down 20 pounds!
>>
>>40503487
Congrats man!

:^)
>>
>>40503242

It's definitely better than running. The main issue with running is your knees aren't made to absorb hundreds of hard impacts at a time. Good form reduces the stress on the joint but at heavier weights even with good form running isn't recommended. Controlled motions and full ROM are key to good joint health eg. Cycling, swimming, rowing.

It depends on quantity and where you get it from, for example mcdonalds one medium is 800

I am 10 kg overweight and I kinda just want to hit "pause" on most of my lifts so I don't feel pressured to push those numbers up by eating more. I'd keep lifting but I wouldn't really try to push myself to keep setting PRs, and then I'd try to diet like an anorexic Stacey. What do you think?

But seriously, I (started 180kg, now 143 and going) used 5kg dumbbells in the beginning, because I was too heavy/weak for body weight, but completely switched over.

It's so satisfying for me push myself around and I feel awesome when I do the mobility/yoga stuff.

Changed my diet to almost Paleo so I still eat til I'm full (though "full" NOW is way less than "full" 5 months ago) and I eat some chocolate or piece of cake or similar every other week in order to not go insane :P

>>
>>40502550
There are other criteria besides effectiveness. Bodyweight works if done right, but it's difficult to do it right. Even serious lifters still do pullups and dips, although with added weight after they're past beginner level.

Free weights are superior to machines for general lifting, btw. If you do decide to go for the home gym, don't get a machine, get a bench, a rack and some weights.

Squat - 130lbs
Bench - 117lbs
OHP - 81lbs

Rows - 106lbs
Barbell Curls - 78lbs
Calf Raise - 130lbs

400 calories is 1/3 of my daily calorie allowance. If I had a frapp every day, I wouldn't have enough calories left to get the protein and nutrients I need for the day not to mention it's very high in carbohydrate.
These kinds of things like junk food and sweets are only a sometimes treat I indulge in, not a staple of my healthy diet. They don't have nutrition.

You didn't get fat overnight so you won't get fit that way either. Stay on the ball, and every good meal brings you 1 step closer. Are you cutting hard enough to lose 2 pounds a week and exercising? If so, seeing a difference should come pretty quickly. If not, why not?

Me either, I've never been obese. But telling super-fats to eat TDEE-500 and start off doing weight bearing exercise or impact cardio isn't really practical. They can eat stricter than that but need body-weight exercises and no-impact cardio at first. Not covered in the sticky.

I took up mushroom hunting as a hobby, so three days out of the week I take my dog and we go hike innawoods. It's great because it gives you incentive to keep exercising and you can go at your own speed, plus I get to bring home great tasting highly nutritional goodies that also give incentive to learn how to cook decently. It really helps to unwind as well.

As an added bonus, you would be surprised how many grills are into this.
>>
>>40506165

>>
Here's a tip for fattys:
Watch what you eat, don't eat SUGARY crap like candy and soda pop. BUT as long as you watch your caloric intake, fast food is fine about one day a week so if you need your fix, get your fix.

I've lost 40 pounds before and continued to eat pizza/taco bell/snack on fritos but I always kept it to 1-2 slices of pizza, 1 item from taco bell, and snacks I didn't care for and since I only did it about once a month/every other week I usually just ate the amount of chips I wanted that day.

One day won't ruin your progress, but continuing to eat like shit will.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a 700 calorie dinner date with some Tim Horton's Mac and Cheese that will be 100% fine for me because I didn't eat like shit today.

>>40506265
Problem is many can't restrict, a couple of pizza slices becomes the whole pizza, a serving of chips becomes 1/2 or a whole bag, and who orders one taco?

One or two reasonable cheat meals per week and a strict diet the rest of the time is more realistic for some. It will taste 'boring' for a while, fast food and prepared food is overdosed on fat, sugars and salt.

One thing I notice in many cases is that bigger fatties have often lost track of what a 'serving size' actually is. Food scale helps.

I bought a ton of peanuts (like 5 pounds at a time) and munch on that to sate my cravings.
Idk how bad they are for you, so I measured them into 8oz containers and snack on one if I must.

I started at 215 in october and I'm at 178 today. I think I have to get around to 160. Just keep cutting until you're happy with how you look lol. Think about it bro, in 4-7 months time you'll be ready to bulk.
>>

That's the plan. Get to where I can start bulking by September.

Precooked chicken that is cut into small cubes and then frozen and sold in your grocer's freezer.
>>
>>40506826
I roast extra chicken breasts, dice them up, freeze on a baking tray, put in a container in the freezer so I always have some quick cooked chicken that defrosts fast in the microwave. I can measure out my portion, defrost, eat it over stir fry veggies or on top of a salad.

Honey baked chicken with green beans and mashed sweet potatoes tonight. Made enough to eat for a few meals tomorrow.
Fasted chest day is best day.
Secret is to go easy on carbs the day you have the honey. All though I'll stand by it, if you're gonna something sweet, honey is the way to go.
Kinda fitting as I am being called bearbro on here lol

My life is changing broskis.

I'm no longer letting my disability get in the way of my healthy lifestyle.

I'm going to lose weight.

I'm going to eat healthy.

I will not give into temptation.

I refuse to become diabetic.

This is my life now. It's hard to work out for me, it's so fucking hard. But I'm doing it. Even if it's only a little bit at a time. I refuse to be a lard. I refuse to be the person I used to be. This isn't about impressing a girl, this isn't about getting out of a depression, this isn't anything like it was before.

The fact of the matter is that I've let myself go the past three years and I'm going to go back to what I used to be.

Week One is done. Did I have a bad Friday? Yeah. I did Friday sucked. But not anymore.

The road to 200 is going to be easy. Let's get fit.

I keep breaking my fucking cut. I'm a recovering skinnyfat, and I'm aiming to get to 14% bfp before I bulk like a motherfucker. But since I don't have control over all of my meals just yet, I keep breaking cut to get 160 g's of protien or more in. Really frustrating.

I brought a food scale though, so it's slowly improving. My leg is finally unfucked, so I'm also looking to add in HIIT. Any suggestions? Goal is to utterly destroy the beep test/multistage fitnes test (get a 10).

I'm measuring my bodyfat again in 2 days after a few weeks of "cutting" (read; breaking cut every few days). I'm optimistic, and hope that the few times I've either gone jogging or LARPing have helped balance it a bit. If I'm down to 16.5%, I'll be ecstatic.

Also, brought a kilo of chicken drumsticks on the cheap and froze 'em all. I cook up one or two as a snack. Helps a shittonne, and decent macros. About a billion time better than my chips I was eating before.

A shake with that much berries has more calories than that. Who eats 400g of berries in a day much less one meal? Or gives this as (bad) advice to a fatty who should be limiting all sugars, fruit too in a cutting diet? Yeah but no.

hey fatbros who are attempting to cut, who many calories do you eat a day?

I did keto for a little over a month. I lost something crazy like 7-10 pounds in a couple weeks and then it immediately dropped off. I guess I needed to count calories, but I thought the whole point of keto was to not count calories.

So now I'm just counting calories. Should I have continued with it?

I eat 1700-1800/day and am losing weight at a reasonable pace. I go to the gym 4 days a week. 3 of them lift with light cardio at the end, 1 is pure cardio.

If I'm seeing any muscle gain it's pretty slow but I'm in it for fat loss mostly. I'll swap to gaining muscle when I'm happy with my BF/BMI.
>>
>>40504766

You have the closest to my body type I've ever seen posted here.

I'm at ~210 right now and started consciously working out and running just a week ago (was 214 then). I'm not even lifting at the moment because I'm too self-conscious to go into the weight room.

What's your exercise regime? I just run outside for ~25 minutes every other day.
>>
I'm 378lbs. I started at 387lbs 4 weeks ago. I know weight loss progress is slow, but at my size, It seems like I'd be capable of shedding a fuck ton of excess weight. My diet is moderate protein and high fat. Carbs are restricted to 30g net carbs(not counting sugar alcohols, fiber, etc.) My caloric intake is between 800-1600(A lot of the times, I'm just not hungry for a while once I eat.

I also IF 16/8. Am I doing good or should I be shedding more weight until 30-50lbs down the road?
>>
>>40509222
>>40509222
I started also at 380 pounds and am currently 236.

I would recommend eating around 1600-1800 calories and incorporating some light exercise into your daily routine. You can walk slowly around the block for 30 minutes a day or on a treadmill, whatever you have available.

Don't drop all of your bad habits all at once or go straight to 1200 calories either because that is a 1 way ticket to quitting and gaining weight again.

If you are addicted to anything, be it soda, fast food, cookies, whatever, reduce it slowly. Mine was soda so I will use that example. I used to drink 6+ cans of soda per day. For the first month I reduced it to 2 per day, then for a few weeks I had 1, and then 0. I strongly recommend you apply changes gradually so that they feel natural and be part of your life rather than a 'diet'.

Slowly increase your exercise intensity too. If you walk becomes too easy, walk faster or for longer or walk uphill. Eventually you might look into a gym membership. I lost 80lbs just walking 30mins a day outside, and only started the gym at 300.

I really wish you the best, it will make your life so much better if you keep it up.
>>
>>40508463
Because I'm a grill with small frame. 1200 is just right. If I did enough exercise to up my calories that much, I'd be exhausted. I choose to put down the fork at a reasonable number instead.

I do walk roughly 1-2 miles a day.

I have an addictive personality, but as long as I cut the addiction out completely by not purchasing it or have an alternative, I'm solid, and have given up a lot. The most I've had to give up were things like bread, pasta, ramen, pizza, etc., but because I know they'll set me back, my impulse to eat them is low. I only drink zero calorie/carb sodas, if even that. 1+ Gallon of water a day before any soda.

I did a 3 mile walk yesterday, and nothing but stiffness in the back and legs like crazy. Today was like 20 degrees, so I gave myself a day to recover.

Thanks, anon. I did go from 380 to 330 over the course of a year when I worked at a busy retail place for a year and a half, but plateau'd the last three months I was there. In the time I made a career change, I gained most of it all back, and now am working it back off. Been through some shit, and having confronted and dealt with it, I'm moving towards bettering myself for good this time.

>>40509715

Right, because psychological scarring and trauma isn't a thing and food becomes an unhealthy coping mechanism that one doesn't even recognize as a problem until it's too late. Just imagine having to live with the thought of being mercilessly tortured and raped at 7 years old for two years, and have to stare at giant, healed up wounds where you were stabbed and burned. You're going to give yourself every reason not to take off your shirt.

If you ever have some horrific thing happen to you, the idea of getting help for it will fuck with you you for a multitude of reasons. Having people think you're a little bitch is one of them.

I hope you're successful in all you wish to accomplish.

The first few weeks you lose a lot of water weight as you get rid of all your glycogen stores. On keto you should still count your calories as that is the main thing for fat loss. The benefits of keto is that you're usually so satiated from all the fat that you're barely ever hungry. With IF I would set alarms to eat because I was never hungry

Rest days exist for a reason. If you're sore don't work out and let the muscle rest.

If a guy loses 100 pounds from 300 to 200 he deserves all the fucking respect. Progress deserves respect, just because someone doesn't have their dream body doesn't mean they haven't put in any effort. "Making it" isn't a single destination it's a line of progress with continuity.

>>40509946
Fuck that your body will still consume calories even if it's metabolism does lower - which it naturally should because your body gets smaller as you lose weight hence needing less calories.
>>
>>40508697

Keto can actually be super cheap. Take it from a broke student who makes every meal.

Buy chicken thighs in bulk they're cheaper than chicken breast, tastier, and easier to cook. Cream and butter were a staple. Super easy to add cream or butter to anything for calories.

Whey and eggs for easy protein

You only need to hit roughly 0.8g/lb of lean mass and going over 1g does more bad than good generally for keto
>>
>>40510049
>>40508697

Forgot to mention that I've personally never felt a mental drain on keto except when I overeat carbs. Some people will feel brain fog though but that usually goes away pretty fast as your brain adapts to using ketones better.
>>
>>40510001
Well alrighty then thanks.

Speaking of eating, what do you guys suggest for breakfasts? I usually go with cereals but to eat a satisfying quantity of them one risks overeating.

Please no Oats, they taste like nothing.
>>
>>40507544
my bag of mixed berries is 25 calories per 100 gr.
So 400 gr of berries would be 100 calories.
One scoop protein shake from my brand is 100-120 calories.
So a smoothie with 400 gr berries and a scoop of protein (and some calorie free coffee) is 200 calories, 220 if you want to be anal about it.
Even fatties can eat 220 in one meal.
>>
>>40510118
You must have magic berries because the ones listed in calorie counters all check in higher.
Assuming your numbers are spot-on, it's a good substitute meal, no question.
But...
Fatties won't consider this a meal if they have been slurping down frappucinos, they will eat it as an add on "treat" and no fatty needs it.
>>
>>40510148
>they will eat it as an add on "treat" and no fatty needs it.
True. But if they can eat it as a meal it is very satisfying. Since it's frozen the protein get released slowly, so you are full for a long time.

I used to live on two of these a day plus coffee all last summer. Worked out fine.
>>
People always say that "if you don't continue what you do to lose weight, you'll gain it back" but is that really true?

I gained a shit ton of weight because I had surgery that made me immobile for half a year and decided to eat like shit during recovery. I didn't gain anymore weight after the initial gain. Once I lose weight I can start eating a bit more, right?

The difference between a meme diet and a lifestyle change is that the latter is sustainable to live on, while the first is supposed to be temporary. The part where most people fail is when they need to find a sustainable balance for the rest of their life without going too extreme and falling back to bad habits.

Guy I feel like a retard, how important is it to meet my recommended calorie consumption from MyFitnessPal?
I had 2 pancakes for breakfast, a huge salad wrap with tuna for lunch, had a cappuccino later, then had like 2 and a half servings of some soup I wasn't even hungry for to get my calories up and it still says I need 1300 more.
The pancakes weren't my idea and I wouldn't think of eating so much at dinner while trying to eat well, and the soup was just something my mum made when I got home. I'd normally eat something better.
My default is 1780 and it only added 500 after exercise and today I felt sick from the fucking pancakes so I didn't even give it my all.
How fucking important is it? Today was a one off for shitty exercise and not great diet and I still didn't meet the rec. What happens tomorrow when I give it my all and eat better?

are you joking

Pears are like a sweeter version of apples. Maybe try those?
Melons are great.
Berries of all kinds.
Kiwis. Wait until they are ripe though, otherwise they are very tart.
Can clementines fix your orange problem?

I keep my carrots in the fridge, then take some with me in a box or small baggy for snacks. They keep very long in the fridge.
If they go bad very quickly you are storing them too hot and humid.

Could be a number of things like water weight or being due for a huge shit. 4 lbs is not a lot of weight and well within normal fluctuations. Are you weighing yourself at the same time (like first thing in the morning after taking a piss)?

Or you're actually eating too much. I've noticed that calorie counts on MFP are wrong pretty often, so check the packaging of your food and compare. Your TDEE goes down as you lose weight and you need to re-calculate every once in a while.

I would double-check that you're counting and weighing correctly, give it another week or two, and if you're still not losing, shoot for 300 cals or so less.

in 2016 Ive been 98kg, I lost 8kg without lifting
Start lifting mid December I was 90kg.
Finally the winter is going away I will start baking.

Do you guys think is it possible till April to hit the 80kg mark?
>>
>>40510684
7kgs in 5 weeks? Possible, but at your weight 1.2 kgs per week is a lot.
>>
>>40510704
what do you mean a lot, like it is hard or it is not good for health to loose that much a weak?
I am thinking 3 day lifting week + cardio (walking, baking runing every single day) it is possible, even if I only cut sugar, fried food and breads from my diet.
I think if I maintain 2K calories a day I can make it, or I have to go much lower on calorie intake?
>>
>>40510754
The (not very accurate) rule of thumb is 1kg of fat for 7700 calories. So to lose 1kg per week, you'd have to cut by 1100 calories per day.

https://tdeecalculator.net/result.php?s=metric&g=male&age=20&kg=87&cm=180&act=1.55&f=1
TDEE calculator puts you at 2950 per day (assuming you're 20 and moderate exercise), so at 2k calories you'd almost get there by April 1st, but not quite.

Don't just cut out specific foods, count calories.

caliper says i'm about 25% ish body fat so i'm not expecting any muscle definition but i'm a bit worried about ending up at 160-150 looking skinnyfat. should i do less cardio? am i losing weight too fast and could most of the weight im losing be muscle?

lifts (using exrx 1rm calculator)
bench press: 203 lbs (don't know if i could push 195)
squat: 366 lbs (though i would guess reality it would be maybe 335)
deadlift: 386 lbs (my guess would probably be around 365)

If you're not allergic to pickles, drink a cup or two of pickle juice. If that doesn't jump start an ethnic cleansing in your bowels, you might have to have a C-Section. Just a caveat: If you aren't constipated and you drink pickle juice, prepare to piss out of your ass in 5 minutes for the next 2 hours.

I realize that. My lower body is a lot more developed than my upper body (though that isn't hard to do). The numbers I plugged into the calculator were

Bench Press 175 lbs 3x6

I am not trying to lie on a thread that is only trying to help me.

Here's a real good reason for going on a diet.

If you have a good job and are healthy and manage to live longer the higher the chances life extension pills and immortality will be invented and somewhat available within your lifetime.

Science is moving fast toward this.

It would be a terrible waste to lose eternal life because you were laze in one lifetime

If you dont waste your money on useless stuff like expensive cars etc it wont be that far away
>>
Have read the sticky more times than I'd like to admit and yet my weight has only increased due to my own laziness.

I've realised that for me self hate only motivates me to start off with and after a few days I revert to unhealthy habits. Recently I've tried to be more positive about myself and weight loss results (I have the assumption even if I lose weight my body will still be 3/10) but also quite firm and critical when needed.

The combination of compassionate but not "soft" thought processes, meditation and exercise seems to be fuelling my weight loss goals.

For people who are overweight and prone to depression and anxiety you may find that developing a more balanced attitude is the only way you can make long term changes.

I have lost 10lb in three weeks, which is the most weight I have EVER lost.

Just thought I'd share.

Hey fellow fatsos!

Consider fasting. I'm fasting for four or five days now (one or two glasses of fresh squeezed orange and lemon juice a day, had a cheat day and ate a pineapple) and it's great!
The lard just melts off and I'm not hungry at all. I feel a wee bit weak but that might also be due to a little cold I'm fighting off right now.
Just remember to drink good amounts of water, that's essential!

My plan is to keep fasting on water until tuesday and see how that works out, sure can't hurt. Even though I've got that little cold right now, I feel pretty darn great.

a few q's : I'm stuck trying to get back in to my diet and my willpower was completely smashed after an ex showed up and rebuilt bridges then just forgot about me all over again.

I really love pepsi max and other zero calorie sodas. wat do? Drinking them on an empty stomach just make me crave food.

There's this low calorie hot chocolate thing that I've found helps with staving off hunger and it's still nice. "Cadbury's Highlights" without adding sugar or milk to it.

I've been eating tons of popcorn on days where I just want to binge like crazy, that good?
err.. I could make a huge blogpost about my diet and history but its very easy to say that my hunger is almost completely emotional and is based on being lonely and almost always when i think about relationships I just have the urge (no thought) to go to the kitchen and eat anything in sight.
However, in the morning I am completely logical about my food and can easily say no.

So my idea was to do IMF (Not for weight loss - just as a routine) so that I can stuff my face towards the evening and then go to sleep or lock myself in my room.

"Started" diet at 126kg, fucking up a bunch of times between jan 2016 and april 2016
Decided to go hardcore or not at all in june, and stuck to it for 4 months and I was incredibly energetic and happy and I didn't even think about relationships or girls or whatever.
It faded away the further into the summer it went though, idk.

Anyway. I'm 112kg now after attempting to starve myself completely for the last month but couldnt keep it up due to my family cooking and buying delicious shit all the time which i'd salivate over when i go to make drinks.

Go grocery shopping in the morning, buy healthy shit only (nothing processed or high calorie). That way, you can go to your kitchen and stuff your face with everything in sight without eating a shitload of calories.

IMF is also a very good idea, do it.

Are you guys working out during fat loss? If not, you're just gonna end up skinnyfat and looking barely better than you do now. Plus you're wasting time splitting two processes that can be done simultaneously.
You have massive amounts of energy already stored on you, all you need is some stimulation and adequate protein intake to build muscle on a deficit. You might not be gaining as much as a dedicated bodybuilder on a bulk, but you will see an improvement in strength and definition and will be in a much better starting place when the fat eventually comes off.

>additional squats and core exercises before bed

I've been doing this for a month and my body has changed a lot, but my weight has not changed. Is there anything else I can do or anything I'm doing wrong? If I just continue, am I likely to see more changes in my weight? I see people on here dieting and losing 5lbs in a week and I can't help but think I'm fucking up somewhere.

You said you're picky, what do you like to eat?

Potatoes actually aren't that bad if you don't smother them in butter or fry them or something. You can microwave a pound of potatoes for about 15 minutes (experiment, how long they need to be cooked depends on your microwave), peel them, and eat a pound of potatoes for 380 kcal.

If you like any veggies, they are low in calories pretty much across the board. Someone already mentioned carrots for snacking. Tomatoes are great, too.

Erm, I can't think of examples really. I'm cutting out cheese and butter and milk where I can now, and erm.. I guess snacks and meat and potato has been my diet since forever.

Lost my first ~20 during 2013-14 with just intuitive eating, then stopped caring and plateaued/maintained from there. Last November I decided to become serious again. Pretty much just drastically cut the cola in the beginning (from 1-2 litres/day down to 2 0.33l bottles a week). Never counted calories for the most time, only started doing so a few weeks ago just for fun/to give myself an idea what I'm consuming and to calculate actual TDEE.
For exercise, I just go swimming once/week, 2-3km breaststroke (only one I can do). Then I get in 20-30km of brisk walks in the week.
Initially didn't plan to do any resistance, but realised I better do so to get away from skinnyfat, so about 4 weeks ago I started some bodyweight exercise at home (reddit's RR), which I'm now doing 3x/week, at my beginner stage (no dips/pullups yet) it takes a bit over an hour. I don't plan to get super ripped plus the nearest gym charges €70/month, so I'm not planning to pick up lifting anytime soon.
Never measured BF properly (DEXA or bodpod, shit's too expensive yo), all other methods give shitty values - Navy method puts me at 13-14%, my scale says 13.7%, calipers (3 point) 9-10% (lol), but I think more realistically I'm ~17-ish right now.

canned green beans instead of peas
pickles, cucumbers, carrots, broccoli (fresh or frozen), cabbage, celery, radishes, lettuce, zucchini, squash, tomatoes (fresh or canned), okra, bell peppers
any plant that is not a potato or bean or corn/grain or avocado will be low calorie. Even beans and grains if they are eaten plain will have some good nutrition in them. Some things don't taste as good as others but you have to kinda suck it up and eat them anyway because they will make you lose weight. http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk/calories-in-food/veg/potatoes.htm

It's 500 grams of raw potatoes. Look it up, they're not very calorie-dense unless you fry them or add fat. I looked at a different website before, so the number differs slightly, but the point stands.

The only downside is a high glycemic index, but that should be the least of your worries if you're usually eating sugary junk food with an even worse glycemic index.

> meat

What about chicken breasts (the non-breaded, non-fried sort)? Fairly cheap, low in calories, high in protein.

Sounds good keep it up breah. You will like your body more as you continue to accomplish your health goals. Sometimes my motivation flags and I am worried or sad about what I am doing and in those moments just trusting that your actions will pull you through to the next calm/motivated period is helpful.

Like forgetting that you have to give a shit or think about weight loss, and just doing the things you know you should be doing anyway. And then you wake up in a few weeks and it's easier.
>>
>>40511639
losing weight doesn't make people happy. What you have done by losing weight is done yourself a favor by removing something you blamed your unhappiness on. Now you don't have your weight as a scapegoat which means you can be more in tune with what is actually going on in your mind. This is a good thing, please keep moving toward a greater understanding of your self.
Feelings of wanting to give up are normal, but that doesn't mean that giving up will help you feel better.

Ive lost 10 pounds since the New Year (Took 2 weeks off due to a road trip and demotivation but quickly got back on board) with super casual dumbbell/calisthenic training, (3 times a week) some occasional morning runs (1 - 3 times a week) and generally staying under/around 1500 cals. Mostly protein and veggies (I try to hit 90-110g of protein) with some oatmeal or yams or brown rice in the mornings. I have 1 cheat day a week, sometimes 2 where I usually hit 2.5k- 3k cals.

I feel satisfied with what little progress Ive made. I feel it on my body every now and then. However, Im open to scrutinization and criticism if Im doong anything wrong or if anyone has any tips for making progress faster or in the right direction.

I know dumbbells arent ideal but theyre all Ive got while I dont have a gym membership. I use a mix of exercises found in the sticky and other places on the Internet.

Should I be stepping up/down the protein intake? I weigh 150.

Are my carbs a deadly sin? They are delicious, even without sugar or any frying. Also, the fiber does magic on the toilet.

Are supplements/vitamins a meme for cutters like us?

Is nofap a meme?

Also, favorite ab exercises? I want to move beyond planks and crunches.

There is a huge difference in mocking fatties for being fat and mocking those that are trying. If them coming to a single fatty thread where they won't be discouraged by the elitist attitude of the rest of the board isn't affecting anyone, then leave them alone. Most people who come to this website are socially awkward and take advantage of the anonymity to ask dumb fitness questions that are geared towards their own journey. Telling them to be fat elsewhere isn't productive when all of /fit/ complains that fatties don't make an effort to change, and will be forever plagued by the sight of them.

Also, that comparison isn't terrible. Every trauma comes with a coping mechanism. Whether it's changing to get past it or deal with it. What's terrible is how some choose to deal with it. Food addiction is a real thing. Yeah, sure, you won't die like stopping cold turkey on heroin, but sugar can fuck you up if you stop instantly. Your gut biome will actually force cravings on you in order to get you to eat that sugar. If you're accustomed to having a certain amount of caffeine, just stop drinking it. The headaches can get brutal trying to wean yourself off of it. Not everyone can break food habits quickly.

What kind of potatos are we talking here?
LIke those small ones or the big ass ones?
I used to eat tons of them, never thought one handful of potato would be so little.
'Course I caked it in cheese so...

Stop comparing, the only one you need to compete with is yourself. Everyone starts somewhere, so just make your start and you'll see changes very soon. What's your plan?

I find having one cheat day a week where you eat whatever you want and as much of it as you want really helps keep my metabolism high. I dropped 60 lbs over 4 months no problem, and my cheat days would be 5000+ cals

Stay away from all sugar and artificial sweetener for a few weeks, all fruit will taste amazing

Boiling large potatoes takes an hour or so, or you need to cut them up first.

If I microwave them, they come out like baked potatoes, I have zero pots to clean up afterwards, and I can just have them for breakfast.

No idea, I just buy a cheap bag of potatoes. There might be fist-sized and tiny walnut-sized potatoes in the same bag. Don't think it matters.

I use the bike machine at the YMCA gym I go to. I use it for only 30 minutes and it tells me I biked 6 miles in that small amount of time. Is that actually good or should I be aiming for closer to ten miles?

>ate chicken for breakfest like 800 cal

That's probably still below maintenance if you're a fatty.
