Had to start my own thread to get an answer to my question, since qtddtot turned into discussion about Vikings.
What the fuck do people mean when they say 30% of calories from protein?
Does that mean that on a 3000 kcal diet almost a thousand of those should come from protein?
Considering there's about 4 calories per gram of protein, that would mean almost 250g of protein in a day?
Did I get this shit right?
Basically you need to calculate how many bags of chips you're gonna eat on dat dur bulk
>>40499485
Yes you have it right
>>40499500
But then I read online you should only ingest 1.6-2 g of protein per kg of bodyweight, meaning i need 130g.
Twice less than this shit.
What would happen if I just hit 3k calories and 130g of protein?
I'd just turn into a fatass?
bumping my shit thread

Get get enough protein for your weight. Max of 1.6g/kg because the body doesn't process excess protein and your kidneys will go through hell breaking it all down.

Thought so.
Thanks bro

You got it bro, if you eat twice the protein you need (which half of this board does) it damages your kidneys due to the fact that ammonia is a by-product of protein break down.
And here's some science before some gomad guy comes in here.

>1.3–1.8 g/kg per day consumed as 3–4 isonitrogenous meals will maximize muscle protein synthesis
>experienced athletes would require less

>protein intake of 1.2-1.8 g /kg per day can be extended to the warfighter

>in top sport athletes where the maximal requirement is ∼1.6 gPRO/kg/d

>0.84 g/kg for adult men (average faggot)
>The more protein we eat each day, in excess of our needs, the more work our kidneys must do to get rid of the ammonia

>minimum of 0.8 grams of protein for every kilogram of body weight per day (or 8 grams of protein for every 20 pounds of body weight)
Also you should read the last one, it's got good stuff about red meat and cardiovascular disease.
And here's a random fit infograph
>>40499691
I'll read them all,as I'm interested in biochemistry and medicine.
The best post I've seen on /fit/ in a while, can't thank you enough
>>40499691
Interesting. But why does the /fit/ sticky claim you're supposed to take substantially more then? I thought at least that was somewhat legit.

Same reason NASA crashed an orbiter, americans can't convert metric to imperial and it's easier math when you use pounds.
>>40499585
you are overthinking it
