Somebody in my nutrition class said this. What does /fit/ think?
thats like saying you don't need oxygen to breathe.
Shoo! Shoo!
>you don't need protein for muscles, but muscles are essential in structuring muscles
What did he mean by this?
>>40498777
you need protein to tone muscles not to grow them
I'm guessing that English is not their first language, and that by growth they're referring to the production of new muscle cells, what folks generally think of when the term growth arises, at least as far as the body is concerned.

I think they mean that eating protein without excercise does not build muscle like some people think it does
Ive heard some people think protein is the same as steroids
>>40498792
OP here, I have reason to believe English is the person's first language
>>40498777
I think proteins help provide structure to the cell/plasma membrane... I could just be pulling shit out of my ass though, physio was a while ago
>>40498819
why am i not surprised that people would believe this.
>>40498741
probably a misunderstanding of protein synthesis and satellite cells forming myofiber.

He's right you know

Why are you asking the truth of a statement by a student who take a nutrition class to a bunch of nobodies on /fit/ who don't even take nutrition class?
I think he is correct.
