UFC fighters are intimidating looking because they've poured blood, sweat, and tears into their training. They've been in high stress situations. They've been locked in a cage where they have to fight their way out, over and over and over again. They've been kicked, punched, choked, and beaten the fuck up. Because of that, they naturally aren't afraid of being punched in the face, they aren't afraid of someone sucker punching them, they aren't afraid of pain.

Those mean muggers you see on the street look intimidating because they probably grew up getting in street fights regularly. Someone like Arnold isn't intimidating looking. He's a big softy with friendly eyes. Even when he tries to put on his best "I'm serious" face.
