I have a question about squatting even though I'm trying for maximum carryover to weightlifting.

After looking at endless articles and testing my overhead squat, it seems that due to my long femurs if I ever want to squat more vertical and actually squat comfortably hen I need some significant improvements to my ankle and hip mobility.

Quinn Henoch recommends lots of tempo goblet squats and similar things like trying to force the knees even more forward with a kettlebell and actually said to use a heel raise with shoes which I always thought was a big no no.

I have a couple questions though, what can I do to replace squatting/quad strength in the meantime whilst I practice my mobility and the the pattern with light weight?

Would lunges/split squats be enough for a few weeks? How would I program them as a main movement that I can LP on?

Every few months to few years the left side bottom of my tongue has a searing sharp pain and feels all acidic and bloody but there's nothing there. I can just be sitting there and it just flares up like that. It swells up and so does my left side lymphnnode on my neck

Yesterday I had a really bad flare up and now it's still a bit stiff even though it usually goes away after a while and also if I eat any sugar the lymph node swells again

In the past it goes back to normal after a few hours

It's not really painful, the tongue stabbing only lasted for like 2 minutes and it's just been stiff since (unless I eat sugar then it burns)

Usually if this happens the lymph node swells much less and it goes away after a couple hours and I can eat fine
