As far as being a university student, how can meditation help me? Is it a meme? Does it ACTUALLY work? I'm new to the idea and haven't really started it in a meaningful way. Any advice?

>Is Meditation a meme?
It’s rest. Here’s why. When you do only one thing at a time, whether it is walking on the beach and thinking of seagulls, focusing on a doorknob or a mantra, or just non-judgmentally aware, or being in the moment, your postural muscles relax, and this is accompanied by the release of endogenous opioids, which provides a natural high. This is why relaxation feels good. Does this mean that teaching and practicing meditation is worthless? Quite the opposite. It just means that all rest is meditation and all meditation is rest, or in other words, you can’t rest unless you are in some way meditating!

It's both a meme and legit. Try it. It's free and doesn't take much time. 10 percent happier is a good intro. If you're happy with your life already though you probably don't need it

Yeah it def works, what I learned though is there is nothing much online can tell you. You just have to start doing it and get the experience of what happens in your life afterward
It allows you to open your third eye and astral project as well as other psychic abilities if you do it right and align your chakras

It's both... meme in as far as it is now ultra mainstream and everyone is doing it or recommending others do it.
It requires a commitment that few actually have and the results aren't entirely obvious.
For me, I will say it is effective but it requires diligence and consistency in practice. It's like any form of training in the sense.
It's benefits won't appeal to the quick fix generation though. Just buy some xanax off your mates if you can't meditate, there's no similarity between the two but at least you won't be feeling anxious when it doesn't work instantly.

I've been meditating for a couple months now and my attention is fucked. It's so hard for me to stay focused on breathing. I literally feel like I accomplish nothing meditating except letting my brain Fuck around for an hour.
I try audio guided but it seems weird to me.
Any tips on increasing focus?
