Marine here. Just black the fuck out, go on autopilot mode. Do what you're told as quickly and efficiently as possible. Scream loud when told. Don't make yourself stand out from the pack, in a negative or possible light.

Use all 3 time out cards,because when your fighting you can just waive the timeout card and isis will understand. Always take stress brakes because again isis will understand. Also always don't do what your told so you can use those timeout cards. :) t. Chairforce

Why would I go 18x right off the bat without any knowledge of how things are done in the army. I'd rather not have to do a 30 mile ruck and washout because Im a noob that doesnt know how to take care of my feet. But to each their own, Ill start 11x.

Listen, if they don't tell to do something don't do it
Discourage your battle buddy from asking stupid questions
Change your socks, don't use too much foot powder, have an Asian help you set up any equipment you get, wake up early (30 minutes) before you have to
Have a positive attitude, training is the most fun part in the army, try to have fun while you're there
It's gonna be strange, it's gonna seem awful, you're gonna miss home, it gets better

marinebro >>40356210 is pretty much spot on. also, don't be first/last to any formation/event. don't be the slowest runner. don't volunteer for anything. despite you being an eventual officer candidate, your DSes will likely pass you up on any dumb leadership positions anyway. on the note of leadership, don't be a fucking cunt to your enlisted platoonmates.

bonus advice: pick the bottom bunk. it's much less a pain in the ass.
