Newfag here, I want to get into boxing to get buff. Is this a good strategy? I'm not really into weight lifting

Started boxing in october 2016, didn't get much muscles since, but i haven't lift either.. And my diet also isn't fully on point. Even so, gaining weight from boxing isn't one of the fastest and effective ways, but you will get quicker, get more stability and cardio improvement. Boxing is fun and gets you a lot of confidence though. I lost about 8kg since then and gained sixpacksl, a bit of V shape, my legs are leaner (before they were buff, but a lot fatty)

Thanks, did you use a gym? I have a punching bag but there's also a boxing gym nearby.
I can tell you're underage and relatively new to boxing and lifting

and 200 lb. Is it easier to gain muscle when you're fat or skinny?

I've been boxing for over a year newfriend, and did other martial arts before that. I'd suggest against it. The basically guaranteed brain damage that you will accrue from doing the sport for any major amount of time, even at an amateur level, isn't worth it, especially when you can just lift weights if you want to get buff.
I'm not even sure if it's even possible to get big on just boxing. At my gym we do almost exclusively endurance, bodyweight, drills and stuff like that. I lift in addition, and it seems to massively improve my punching power over guys who don't. Guys like Tyson were able to get big with just bodyweight stuff (allegedly), but I'm pretty sure Tyson was on gear.
