Before we started knowing everything we were getting big on all kinds of ridiculous crap - circuit training, machines, bars/calisthenics and, yes, even bro-splits.

Nowadays we apparently know everything there is to know about nutrition and training. Our preachers Jason Blaha, Mark Rippetoe and Medhi tell us how to train optimally and what to eat and as a result we are weaker and look worse than we did back in the 90's and 2000's.

There are college kids nowadays that bench less than what I did in HS and give each-other craptastic advice such as "squeeze your glutes" and "arch harder".

It's not the people that actually have an understanding of what to do that triggers all of us. It's the lifters who want to look aesthetic and expect to get there in 6 months by doing a brosplit and benching 95lbs. If you're stronger you'll be activating more muscle fibers, damaging more muscle fibers and gaining more mass.

That said, actually reading starting strength and following it until LP runs out, which normally happens anytime from 6-9 months, is the best way for a beginner to maximize their gains. What people tend to forget is getting big, getting strong or getting aesthetic, no matter what your goal is is a marathon, not a sprint and will take years.

Everybody who says this, is retarded. The main things most people on a brosplit get wrong, is progressive overload, and diet. You can't lift the same weight for the same reps and sets for a year and expect to grow. That's not how it fucking works. Vice versa you can't eat like shit and drink heavily every weekend and think chugging protein powder is somehow gonna fix it.
Though, even when you correct these errors, a brosplit is still not optimal for training (unless you're roiding and have a lot of time). PPL and full body are far superior, full body being the most optimal, if you can handle the metabolic stress that comes with alternating different multi-joint exercises coupled with single occasional joint assistance and low and high volume and intensity during the same workout. Work capacity is a thing and it actually helps you in making gains.

The fact that you're weak doesn't mean other people also have to be. I personally taught deadlifts to two guys who had never done nay before, one of them is 180cm and 67kg skinny white kind mode, reached 3pl8 1RM in about 8 minths while not even trying very hard
I deadlifted 130kg the first time i'd ever tried which was about 4 months into lifting.
3pl8 is the easiest milestone, 4pl8 takes quite a bit longer, most people enver make 5pl8 because most people don't even bother.

I reached that for the squat at around 11 months of training in which I did Izzy's crap and Sheiko and missed 4 of those months due to life stuff. I was weighing in at 74kg and I am 192cm tall. By all means, I was DYEL and if you saw me down the street you would never think that I was lifting weight.

For looking good or actually looking like you lift, "strength standards" are meaningless.

High weight low reps (90%+ 1RM for 1-3 reps) = primarily neurological adaptation
