I need to purchase a home gym. What should i look for as a beginner?
Bump I need help
Since you're a beginner get a fucking gym membership and figure out what you're doing before you waste your money and snap your shit up in a home gym

Why buy another house just for a gym? Seems wasteful to me.
What the fuck is a home gym. Bowflex machine next to your piece of shit Dell in the spare room that used to be your kids before your wife left. Faggot.
squat rack
bench
olympic bar
plates
a couple of rubber mats to deadlift from
maybe a pair of adjustable dumbbells
thats pretty much the bare minimum. look for used shit online if your poor

A gym membership.
Seriously, you won't take a home gym serious if you don't have to go out and do it. Hell, I take the gym VERY serious, and even I know that I wouldn't have what it takes for a home gym. I need the atmosphere, the people, the attention, the competition. Otherwise it's nothing.

these are what you need
along with high quality collars
another wise investment is a power rack with a cable attachment

You could do powerclean 3x5, front squat 3x5, press 3x5, pushups 4 setsxfailure, curls 3x5... 4 times a week, for just over $200. Then, if you stick with it, you can buy yourself some squat stands for like $70 that will open up back squatting/benching and you could do a starting strength style routine.

Buy a pull bar that attaches to a door frame.
I have pic related and it's all good, you may have a natural pull up bar around the house.
Get a semi decent bench, doesn't need to be expensive just quality. I got one that has legs section for hamstrings and shit.
I welded on extensions so I can raise the bar holders out enough to use for squats and OHP.
Get a couple bars, different lengths and some adjustable dumb bells.
The most expensive part is buying plates. Some came with my set up but I bought most of them second hand. You'll need a good selection of plates.
I use an old fish crate and my bench to do dips.
I use back pack worn frontwards to fill with plates for pull ups and dips.
Just look around and be resourceful, you don't need a douchy gym pass to go pose with the boys and pretend girls are looking at you, they aren't.
