Hey /fit/ , is it normal to feel lat activation when doing OHP? Whenever I do OHP and I start to lower the weight down to the bottom position, I feel like my lats are getting worked out.
Is this normal? Or is it because I'm leaning back too much?
If it is due to bad form, could somebody give me some tips on how to correct this?

Lats play a stabilizing role during the bottom portion of the OHP. Unless you're a complete novice, they won't feel like they're being worked. Leaning back slightly for the bottom part of the OHP is normal. Just keep lifting.
Yes, the lats are important in the OHP. Watch this video thoroughly and pay attention

I'm currently at work, so I can't watch it, but will do! Thanks for the reassurance.

Try not to bend back too much though, or you will strain your lower back something fierce and be out for a couple of weeks
t. someone who did exactly that

It is normal. You can also feel them when locking out because they get stretched quite heavily in this position. I actually had DOMS in my lats from OHPing the first couple times I did it.
When i reracked my ohp today, i had alot of pain in my upper middle back and chest.
I hurts to turn my head or pull my arms back. Has this ever happened to anyone else?
