That pic in september was taken about a week before I foolishly had to take 3 months off for school/money reasons, but I've started working out again since like the day after christmas, and I've decided to actually start counting calories starting 3 weeks ago (eating ~2500 most days). I'm skinny, 150lbs, 6'0.

I have all the dietary stuff from the sticky bookmarked but I was wondering what I could get away with only having my body, various random objects, walls, floors, and a 20lbs dumbell, and dedication.

The last two days I've been working on my biceps and tri's and pecks until I literally can't lift or move those muscles anymore and then I'll take a break for some hours until I can do it again (only do this 3 times max in a day). Today bending my forearm to my bicep and just using me elbows in general is a little bit painful so it seems like I'm doing it right.

Kind of odd to ask, I have no idea what my max rows or pull ups are because I just go until failure after my compounds. By then I'm too fatigued to really get a good idea. And for barbell rows I keep my back horizontal and just focus on muscle contraction and movement more than moving weight.

I'm bulking, do not have a pump, and just ate like 250g of chicken, close to two handfuls of cheese, and a 500ml protien shake with only one scoop. from now on i'm having two scoops in each shape becasue my new whey powder is the cheapest stuff i could get and is pretty awful

Not everything I do is full retard chest reps. But the 'full contraction' shit works only for small muscle groups that dont have a ton of innervation, think biceps.

The back in general responds to heavy weight moreso than lighter weight done 'controlled' for a couple reasons
>Motor neuron irradiation. A harder pull means more of the muscle is activated, regardless if you feel it. Same concept as squeezing the bar hard as possible when benching
>A huge part of rowing is the catch at the bottom. There's a huge stretch under load when you catch the weight, this tears your shit up
>The lats perform two roles, shoulder extension and thoracic extension. Slow controlled reps won't allow the lat to work as hard for thoracic extension and you only really have it work shoulder extension, with a lighter weight. A little bit of body English at the weakest part of the rep allows you to use heavy enough weight to properly challenge the lats and back
>The back muscles are primarily stabilizing in most motions, they prevent your shoulders and spine from wobbling around when moving a load. A heavier bar is going to challenge them far more than a lighter one, even going to failure with slow reps

You have to remember a lot of what we're doing js applying stress to the muscle. Even when you cheat, there's no where else for force to travel but through your back. I wouldn't have any hip motion is something like a lateral raise, for example, because it wouldn't help anything. Or even pullups. But for rows, it just works. You don't have to go full retard, but a little bit of hip motion allows 1.5x to 2x the amount of weight you'd use otherwise, which will stress the fuck out of your back and help you grow.

When I say back it's just a general term for lats traps/rhomboids, erectors and other small muscle groups like rear delts, serratus posterior etc. I'm not talking about your spine lmao.

You have to understand hypertrophy exercise is mostly about breaking the tissue down so that there's a repair and adaptation response. See pic related.
