One thing videos of PL meets usually miss when compared to WL meets, is that they show a lot of what goes inside the warmup and coaches area. Shows the coaches actually writing down the attempts, the lifters warming up, them watching the other lifters and discussing their next attempts, changing their minds, playing mind games with the opponents...

Really, a competition is a lot more than just lifting the weights when you're competing for the top spots. It has a whole game inside the warmup area, and the other lifters competing for the top are also playing it.
The competitions to these athletes is about winning, not about setting PRs.

This is different when you're new to competitions. Here you're mostly just trying to do your best, get 9/9 lifts, and get new PRs. What the other people are doing has little bearing on your decisions, you're focused on how you're feeling, how the weight felt, technique mistakes that can happen, etc. It's a more of an individual game.

There are lots of articles on the internet giving tips for "the first meet". They explain how the weigh in will work, what to do after, how and when to start your warmups, which numbers to attempt, and many go over basic things like food and water.
